I could use some advice, i own a couple breitlings (Seawolf, Superocean) and love the quality. i have always liked the look of the omega P.O. 45.5 orange arabic with black bezel but ive never owned a omega.the breitling i would go with if i dont buy the P.O. would be a 45mm avenger. I would like to know how they compare in terms of quality. is one better than the other, worse, or equal? it looks like the bracelet on the p.o. has hollow endlinks, ive always had solid on all my watches. is it a big deal? any help would be greatly apreciated! thanks Steve

i cant comment in terms of quality since i do not own any omeags. but there are alot of memebers on here that seem to like omega quite a bit. if we are judging both these watches on pure looks...then IMO i like the avenger much more. its a piece that just seems to command attention.

That piece in particular is exceptional. You cannot go wrong there. Not so upbeat about the Speedies and other Seamasters.

Owning and having owned both, I think they are comparable. I can't speak as to the links, but owning an older GMT and a new Steelfish I understand your concern. If that checks out ok, I wouldn't worry about it being less of a watch than a Breitling. More conservative, yes, but same high quality.

Oh, and I'm sorry, I have owned both Breitlings and Omegas, not an Avenger and a P.O.

I put the bracelet on my PO having bought it originally on a strap. It is a nice heavy bracelet. I do not recall hollow end links. The bracelet does suffer from one weakness IMO - only adjustment is a half link. But more brands use that than don't in my experience.

I own the exact PO that you're thinking of and it's an outstanding watch. I've never owned an Avenger but the thing that I love about the PO is that it's a very versatile watch, on the bracelet or a leather strap it can dress up nice and on the rubber or a NATO and it's a really casual/sporty watch. I wouldn't say one is better than the other but I think that you would be very happy with the PO.

:yeahthat And my personal opinion, dollar for dollar, I'd take the Omega which seems to hold up better than my BlackBird. It doesn't scratch as easily and seems to keep better time as well...I don't find myself adjusting my Omega as often as I do my Breitling. Having just picked up a vintage Omega Seamaster, I'm very impressed with Omega - quality seems very consistent from my own experiences and from what I've heard from my AD who represents many luxury watch brands.

I've found the Omegas keep better time than Breitlings as well. I still prefer Breitling to Omega in terms of styling - evidenced by my no longer having any Omegas. The Omegas I did have kept the best time of any brands I've had except one - every Rolex runs at less than +1sec/day.

A little off topic but I'm curious as to which Nato(s) you have roman and who you bought them from - do you recommend them?

I have a maratac 5 ring Zulu, but I always call it a NATO. I forgot where I got it from but I'll let you know when I remember. I think it gives the watch a great look and is a great way for me to switch it up from the strap, I'm not a fan of bracelets.

I regret selling my Planet Ocean Olympic!!! Omega makes a great watch and they keep excellent time!! They also make one of the most comfortable rubber straps which actually look like leather. I like more of Breitlings watches, the Planet Ocean is really the only Omega that I like...but i like it A LOT..

I've had the opportunity to own a couple of Omega's and Breitlings. The Chrono Avenger is a very solid, yet light watch. Breitling's ARs are top notch. I believe, B's are the only watch manufacturer which COSC rates each watch they pump out if the factory.

Timing accuracy for both Omegas and Breitlings are equal, in my opinion.

I have both from Omega the 2531.80 and the 2594.52. I like the 2594 as it is the only few automatic chrono that I know off that you can use the chrono pushers under water.

Omega bracelets are comfy but the lack of micro adjustments can be tricky on some wrist sizes.
