As mentioned in a previous post I have been incredibly privileged to be lent the new TransOcean 01 LE for a mini-review.

The version I was lent was on the Ocean Racer mesh bracelet. Many members stated that they thought the TO would look better on either of the two leather strap options instead.

This is the best I could do. I had an old 20/18 black leather strap and bolted that to the this stunning silver dialled example of the TO.

Well, I have to say: You were all right. The transformation was immediate and dramatic. The eye is now drawn straight to the perfectly finished case and wonderfully designed dial. I would definitely consider getting one of these if (and it's a big if) there wasn't the Navitimer 01 at the same price point.

So, just like the Navitimer 01, the leather strap version is the one I would definitely go for.

Apologies for the very quick and dirty pictures. I'll knock some out from my light box/tripod set up later. I'll also try and capture the exquisite silvered dial.

I still have not seen the silver dial on a Gold (or even brown) croco or calf. The dial has deifinite cream tones to it, especially the subdials. That could be the ultimate combo. Oh yeah, and a strap that was the correct size. :) :poke:

Sooooooo much better than the mesh! I'm looking forward to seeing the non-LE version with the silver dial and black subdials on leather.... or maybe even on a DPII!

Even though you were cheaky enough to mention the incorrect strap size Sharky I shall satisfy your desire to see the TransOcean on a brown croco strap. I swapped it over from my Chronomatic LE.

Personally, I think this is the perfect combo for the Stainless Steel TO. It might look even better with the rose gold version.

Whaddya you guys think?

That lume looks awesome! Is it actually blue or is that just the lighting?

Very nice. Brown or gold are the top strap choices for that silver dial. Makes the TO LE look like a watch instead of a mock up. Damn nice actually............

It always amazes me how a strap choice can bring out certain dial color or undertones. Brown with a white dial with hints of cream - perfect.

A Cheeky Fellow

OMG!!!! Just stunning. There is no question in my mind that the best look is the brown croc with silver dial.

I put the TO up there with any of the newest Basel models offered by the usual suspects. I just cant say that there was a better looking watch to come out this year.

I am interested in seeing the non-le silver dial when it goes live and pics start showing up. I was thinking the non-LE was a no brainer since it comes with the display back but without the premium, but the all silver dial is just tops.

Does anyone know what the retail price will be on both the LE and non-LE models? I remember hearing the LE was something like $6700 (head only), but with the price increase coming afterwards am not sure that is still correct.

No question...the brown strap is the way to go with the cream dial.

It isn't blue I'm afraid. The blue on the image I took is just the background colour reflections exaggerated by the 3 seconds exposure I used for the shot.

Here is the actual lume.

Hi Thomas,

I agree that the TO is the best looking watch from Breitling's latest releases.

I do not wish to rain on your parade but the non-LE TO will have a solid caseback. I don't know why either.

As someone who has tried on the TO on mesh you can truly appreciate it when I say that I also thought the TO on mesh was very nice, when I first got to wear it, but on the brown croco is absolutely stunning. I like mesh bracelets but I don't think they work on classic looking simple dial/case watches. They detract too much. There's a warmth to both the brown croco and silvered dial that makes it the perfect combination.
