Ti owners, which steel wool # would I need to polish a scuff mark that is on the side of my CA? This is on the 9 o'clock side of the watch.

I went on TZ before and a member posted and recommended to use steel wool to buff out scuff marks on Ti cases.

I would not use steel wool. If you get the finest scotchbrite you can find, that will work. I use a 30 micron "paper" from watchbandrenew.com. Makes the case and bracelet look brand new. Best of luck.

i would respectfully disagree about the steel wool and have posted several times on TZ about this issue. imho, the factory finish on breitlings is pretty easily replicated by starting w/ #000 steel wool followed by #0000 steel wool. scotchbrite will work, of course, but the right grade is not as easy to find outside of auto body materials supply houses. again, i would start w/ grey [if it is a deep scratch], then maroon, and finally gold scotchbrite...i have had literally dozens of Ti watches and by now can return a battered Ti watch to nice shape in about 15-20 minutes of careful work.

Can't say that I've ever tried but I did think when I first read this that 0000 is softer than scotchbrite. I use 0000 in between coats of stain when finishing wooden furniture and it comes up beautifully smooth.

I've never used steel wool, so I'm sure it will work. I've just used the 30 micromn cloth. I definitely trust your advice, since I've bought a ti watch from you and it looked great!! Great stuff.

i admit that i have been lurking on here for awhile; just not really used to posting here! right now i have too many ti watches and will probably have to start selling some to buy yet another old mercedes to tinker with. at least i am staying current w/ my ti refinishing skills....
