Sad for you mate!

I too wear mine for everything.....I thought it was indestructible.

And I've just had a quote for a new dial and crystal for a B1 and it was very close to £500.

Davey

Yeah,
after wearing mine for 12 years solid, I too think they are the most bomb proof watch I have ever had or heard of, but, I guess its not a weakness, more of one-off..

Thats a ridiculous price to just change those 2 items... For me, I pay £200 excess no matter how much the repair costs. I will let everybody know when the quote comes back and what it includes. I am feeling, its gonna be expensive..!! LOL

its not that ridiculous tbh they normally force a full service when making these changes which would run you a few hundred £ anyway so in reality the dial and crystal is alot less.

My B1 is away at this moment.

Full service to the watch and UTC, new bezel for the watch, and refurb/polish of watch, UTC and bracelet.

£550 English pounds thank you very much. :wowzers

Nick.

(Should look damn fine when it does return though)

Just an update..

The local Breitling Approved Dealer called me yesterday to tell me that Breitling have sent my watch back to them. Breitling never gave a price to repair it, they just said, "Beyond Economical Repair"... Gutted... Letting the insurance company deal with that. Wanted to keep the watch..!! Looks like I will have to choose something new.. I guess I might go for an Airwolf as a replacement as they are very similar.!! Got to send the breitling official statement over to the insurance company and see what they say..!! :(

While reading this forum, I noticed there are loads of good reviews of a place in Newark called Andrew Michaels. I called them and spoke to Sam to get some idea of options as it appears I need to get my B1 replaced... They seem to be the most knowledgeable Breitling people I have ever spoken too.. Pity its 120 ish miles away from me..

He tells me that he can get a 100% perfect, used, B1, in Blue like mine for £1900... Or.. I can get a used Blue Starburst Airwold for only a few hundred quid more.. As it is only a few hundred quid more, maybe its a better option, Airwolf being newer and stuff..!! They look quote similar too.. Time to think now..

Hiya

Sad you will have to forsake the original B1, but I'd really suggest trying to see an Airwolf in person before buying, especially the sunburst dial as opposed to the newer dial.

There were some comments that the sunburst design made the hands blend into the dial and made it harder to read at a glance.

The bezel is different too. So try not to rush, and make the correct choice for your taste.

Andrew Michaels and Sam in particular are currently striving to get my NOS replacement B1 sorted and returned to me. They are extremely reputable and work hard to ensure their customers are happy.

Good luck!

Looking forward to the happier ending of your struggles!

Davey

Sorry your B-1 got smashed. I love mine, but will be putting it up for sale as soon as it gets back from the spa. I just bought a limited edition Airwolf and can't justify keeping it. Well, I can :D but I need the funds. Best of luck,

Don
