I'm with you, H60sarman. I think this piece with yellow accents just might be my birthday present to myself this year.

I don't like the majority of the newer models and think that Breitling doesn't have a clear direction where to go.

I would consider the red or blue accents - if it isn't too large for me (?).

They should have kept the day/date feature true to the original SOC. The day is a nice feature to have and eliminating it takes away from the watch in my opinion

Absolutely. If anything, they should be adding it to more watches. After all, Breitlings are supposed to be "intruments for professionals," whatever that means. (Wouldn't condoms be instruments for a professional sex workers? But I digress...) Not that Breitlings should be all about practicality, but the day/date feature is very useful, and not something seen on many watches. It was one of the reasons I got the CSO.

Purchased the new Superocean Abyss in Black with stainless band and it's beautiful. Have an Aquatimer Chrono from IWC that doesn't have near the build quality as this Breitling. It also spends half of its life getting repaired in Switzerland. For the money...this watch is unbeatable.

It seems that way doesn't it. However although I think it is an awkward looking watch, it does have potential in my eyes and I think it could grow on me fairly easily. I prefer busy dials though.

If it had a black date wheel I would buy one.

The black dial with white date wheel and mis-matched font is a deal breaker for me.

After seeing some "in the steel" pictures of it (as opposed to the sterile renderings on the website), I can see the watch's appeal. I wouldn't necessarily mind having it on a Pro II as a sporty option. However, it is nowhere near as universal as what it replaced, and that goes double for the CSO. I can wear my CSO in any situation. I would only feel comfortable wearing the SOII in limited circumstances, and unless it grows on me, I can't see wanting to wear the new CSO under any circumstances.

This was ultimately the problem I had with the SOII - limited wearing options. whereas the 2009 and earlier SO was more versatile. And as for the new CSO - not in a million years.

That said, this is my personal opinion for my personal watch wearing habits, so please no hurt butts out there.

I've kind of held my fire on a lot of the new stuff. But the more i look at this (and the SOII before it) the more i dislike them both. The rubber bezel is madness. The designs are too toy-ish and chunky. Someone said earlier that the watch has lost its versatility; you can no longer wear it with a suit. it has no lume pip on the bezel. This doesn't seem to be a very serious watch to me.
