I have a real dilemma, and would welcome contributions from my fellow addicts.

As many of you know I have already bought three Breitlings this spring - DB Cosmo, Blacksteel and SOH 38 for dearly beloved. I should now stop for a while, but.....

I went to see my AD yesterday with a colleague to pick up his Oris Artelier (man Oris is good value for money!) and my AD offered me the TT Havana dial Legende that I have been looking at discounted from the old prices if I act in the next couple of days. Canadian lsit has just increased to $9,685 - nearly $11,000 with taxes in Ontario. That would make the price with my discount around $8,200 taxes in. If I move in the next couple of days she will let me have it for $7,100 taxes in.

At the same time there is an unusual piece available (thanks for pointing it out bnewbie) that will likely be considerably less, but still in the $4,000 range - probably more with duty and taxes and those good things.

So what would you do - stick to the three and be happy, go for the deal on the Legende or try and get the limited availability piece?

The question is, can you afford NOT to save over 1000 USD by not buying that watch?

Of cource I have the financial sense of a six year old in a candy shop when it comes to watches, so you should'nt really be heading my advice

I think that lot of members including me have the same financial sense.

@Roffensian,
You have a tough dilemma indeed and I doubt that members of this board can give you a reasonable answer because most of us have a problem, admitted or not. :) 'Hi, my name is John Doe and I'm a Ling addict'.
My best wishes for you to manage to buy both watches, first because of a huge discount, and the other for being unusual which you might not find again in the near future.
I know that this wasn't helpful at all. :)

If you want it, buy it! After all, we only live once and we're a long time dead.

But then as Altair so rightly said........

I love the legende, but without telling us what the "unusual" peice is, its hard to say... depending on how unusual it is you might be able to get another one... is it another display back model?

Guess it depends upon whether you really love the watch and can't do without it and also because it's a limited edition - or - you like the watch (it is a beautiful piece), but the reason of getting it for the fact it's a limited edition is outweighing the liking it reason. Either way, $7,000. is a lot of money. Unless you really love that watch, you may see something else in the next while that you like better.
In my case, I was going to wait until my 60th birthday in just over a year, and get a Blackbird. However, the Blacksteel came along, and although less money, it was my favourite piece. If I didn't get it, I know I would have regretted it. The fact it was a limited edition simply meant that I couldn't wait that long, if I wanted a new one, of course the fact it is a limited edition was an attraction too. However, the point is I loved the watch so much.
Anyway, the main pleasure of getting a new watch is in the hunting around. So enjoy it either way.
Cheers,
AY104

ps I have to be totally honest: I can't believe I just said that! I am so totally impulsive, and I did make a couple of mistakes and wished that I had waited. I guess you could always sell the Legend after if you see something you like better, although that is always easier said than done. It does seem an incredible value for a Limited Edition, and I would also be asking myself why they would be letting such a limited piece sell for such a high discount. This is sort of the same thing as BreitlinsSource is saying, is it really all that "unusual".

Could be

However, there are a couple of questions about it - good seller, but I'm not convinced that the watch is 100% right - I think it is, but has had some work done by a non AD.

I am leaning towards putting a deposit on the Legende to secure the price, but hold off dropping all the money, but who knows how I'll feel by Monday.

@ jnelson3097 - I already have the blacksteel - that was one of the spring's acquisitions already.

@ Sunnyman - the problem with asking the wirfe is that her solution would be to buy her another Breitling - she's worse than me, and she's the CFO of my company!!!

Get the one that you like more. Period. Dont let the discount factor into your decision.

It is of course also admission to the Full Ling club, and the other one wouldn't be.

The AD also had a gold Montbrillant Olympus - nice piece, but new pricing puts it over $20,000 :? :(

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but no one has suggested that I do the sensible thing and settle for just three new Breitlings in six weeks
