Despite the new technology, I can't help but note that the watch hasn't changed a great deal.

Sometimes that's a good thing though, it was such a great watch that it didn't need anything more than an in-house movement. The minor tweaks are probably just to differentiate it from the original PO and the Ceramic bezel is just a nice touch.

Also heard the new 9300 movement had a 4 year warranty.

I read that as well which is a huge plus for me.

There's a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of the new 9300 Speedy on the bracelet in the video on that link I posted, and I can now say that I think it looks awesome! It was the strap that was throwing me when I first saw it. Sure the twin register isn't quite the traditional Speedy, but then again neither is a 44.25mm case. Jeez, I think that Speedy might be a must have.

Good point about the case size, one of the things that I like about this is that it's not pretending to be the old Speedy. Between the size and the chrono layout it really is a new Speedy.

I'll need to check out the video when I get home, I really hate this computer. Half the pics are "x"'s, half the links are blocked as social networking sites and the videos, well, I diodn't even know that link had a video.

Looks like Omega is giving the people what they want this year. I like the new PO, the new POC and the new Speedy. My first reaction to the Speedy was that it would have been better with a 3-register chrono, but it's growing on me.

On another note - announced through facebook?! This is worrying. Can a Swiss watch company seriously make the assumption that all (or even most) of its potential customers are on facebook?

I think this was a bunch of old dudes in a boardroom trying to be "hip". One of their kids said something about Facebook and they went, "That's it!!!!"

Nice find Altair!

I'm still not 100% convinced it looks "Speedmaster enough" with just the twin registers......, but I still really do like it.

Great info. on the new speedmaster - first list price I've seen (7300 CHF). I'm seriously thinking about one of these, would compliment my existing 3570 piece.

Thanks.

Thats actually one of the reasons I like the watch, what with the seemingly endless list of Speedmaster versions that are barely distinguishable at first glance it is nice to see that they have come out with a fresh take yet preserved the basic DNA of the model. I look for that in allot of brands, Panerai, IWC, AP....I think Omega hit the nail on the head with this one!

By the way, any one know what Orange Gold is? Never heard that term.

Metallurgically there's no such thing - especially when stated as 18kt - higher gold contents with small amounts of silver and very low / no copper in the alloy can get to a reddish yellow shade.

My guess is that they are experimenting with a new alloy outside of the traditional gold / silver / copper blend, but no idea what that would be.
