Hi - new Breitling owner here....

I've been looking and looking for the right piece, and had narrowed it down to several models, and last week took the plunge.

A little about myself...

I have been collecting watches for several years, mostly vintage Rados and vinatge Omegas, but have slowly been focusing my collection on a few major pieces (at least for me!)

I have two vintage restored Speedmasters, an Omega Great White GMT, and a Rado Sintra automatic. To this herd, I wanted to add a Breitling.

I had thought about an A13050 Chronomat, but I have three chronos, and decided to get something a little more straight-forward.

Through a seller I have dealt with before, I came across a mint condition 42mm Steelfish with boxes, papers, on a rubber strap. While I was negotiating with him, I sourced a Pro 1 bracelet at a reasonible price, and 4 days later, I now have this on my wrist:

A few things I've noticed right away:

- The AR coating really is unbeliveable - the bast I have seen. It truley looks like there is no crystal on the watch.

- Not sure what the freq is for the movement, but you can barely see it "tick"....

- The Pro 1 is really comfortable, and very easy for me to find the right length (I'm picky about the adjsutment of the band, and have sold watches that were uncomfortable if they didn't have micro adjustments)

The size and height is just right for me. I wear a suit, or at a minimum a sportcoat every day, and I've had issues with some of the chunkier watches, as much as I like them. This one seems just right.

So...I'm a happy new Breitling owner! Although I've flipped wathes over and over (and over...) again since I started this hobby, I'm thinking that this one is a keeper.

Thanks for looking....

Congrats, great pick-up! The 42mm steelfish is a great all around size, much the same as the SO. I let my regular 44mm steelfish go because it wore a little too thick and heavy for me.

Good find  .

Congrats!

Good on you for getting the bracelet and rubber strap. Which bracelet do you prefer, pro 1 or pro 2?

I've had limited experience with the bracelets, but I liked the looks of the pro 2. But I have to say that I love the way the pro 1 fits me, and it looks great.

I considered selling the rubber band, but once I had it in my hands decided to keep it. It's a blue hershey strap that matchs the dial nicely.

Does anyone wear their steelfish on leather?

Nice! I have a honey gold strap I was considering for it....

I like it, but I wonder if it would look better on a strap that doesn't taper? It's such a chunky piece...

It holds up well on the 22/20mm standard breitling strap. The angle of the pic gives the illusion of more taper. Yours would be 20/18 I assume. I wear a SOC, same dimensions as your 42 SF, on a 20/18 crocodile on occasion. Works ok. The key is a thick strap. For instance an IWC strap would be swamped.
