Isn't retail on the Deepsea only $9800? I just looked at this last week and I swear that's what the price tag said. Are you located in the US?

It was a few months ago when I purchased the one I owned for all of 12 hours. So the price it is listed at suggests that it is pre-owned. I saw a barely worn green Sub C at a dealer listed at $1000 over retail. Same thing with a worn once Panerai Ceramic Radiomir - +$1000 over list. But I don't know if a Rolex AD can do that.

They gave me the Rolex catalogue and the Canadian price list. The price list listed it at $10,740.

I'm considering the purchase of a new Rolex DSSD. I tried it on today and can't get it off my mind. I was offered 25% off list price (which is $10,740). I am not really that familiar with pricing on rolex and was wondering if this is a good deal. Off the top of my head i would think so but who knows, maybe I could do better. Any responses are appreciated, thanks.

I own a DSSD and really am not impressed with it. It is huge (big case and small dial) and sits high on the wrist. I can think of several other Rolex models I wish I would have bought for the same price as the DSSD. The TT Submariner is only about 1K higher and looks leaps and bounds better than the DSSD. But, to each their own.

Well that explains it - the retail in the US is $9,800.

Good old Rolex. Currently C$10,740 = US$11,054 - a US$1,250 premium for buying in Canada!

I asked the AD about the difference in USD list and CAD list. He said that the US prices will soon be increasing to be around the same as CAD. Not sure how true this is.... It would make sense though.

Just spoke with my AD and there is no planned Rolex price increase in the US.

Skeptical guy says.....

Why not offer 25% off? Whether you buy it or not, it's a win/win situation for the salesman. You can easily verify that you were quote a truly amazing price, so it's almost guaranteed that you'll go back there to buy the diamond ring, because you think you have this fantastic relationship with the salesman. And that's when he'll more than make up for the additional discount he gave you on the watch.

That is definitely logical to think! However I have decided to purchase the ring elsewhere, after gently informing the AD of this he said the discount still stands . I still don't know if I can afford it though, even with the discount. They offered 8 months no interest layaway, but I don't know if I really want to get involved with that.... Oh and to answer some previous question, the watch is brand new, unworn. Is it really THAT good of a deal? Honestly, I really didn't even have to negotiate for it. Anyone know what the dealers' cost is?

Its not so much about the issue of the dealers cost, rather the fact that Rolex is about as strict as they come in regard to limiting discounting. If they found out that your dealer was offering you that, they would smash his head to bits. Maybe not, but theyd definitely have something to say about it, and they arent shy about closing a dealers account.

I just purchased a DSSD over the weekend at local AD and tag price was $10,250. I got 10% off and no tax.
