I haven't ranted in a while so I'll keep this short - Breitling has the slowest, choppiest, cheesiest friggin' website around. It's even slower now than a year ago! First you have to sit through 10 seconds of fanfare to the NYC boutique (come on! It's just a store with no discounts). Then the rest of the site is painfully slow loading models and OMFG slow on the configurator. The separate Bentley website is even worse.

Finally, try to watch a video there like the current Gretzky one - it's impossible. I'd be better off clicking one of these real fast

So WTF does it take to use that site? I have high speed cable and a darn fast laptop. About once a month I go to the site just to be reminded how miserable an experience it is, much the same as I do with a driver on the golf course.

OK, done. Thanks for letting me share.

I hear ya. It's always been painfully slow and sometimes the framing is off and doesn't allow you to scroll aroung to see all the content. They definitely aren't spending much money on site administration. They could loose all the animations and just give us quick, high res pictures w/ the data.

I agree.

I am so glad George told me about the Japanese version - that one is so much better

Not something I would normally say but it is also very slow on a Mac.

I am not alone, - I am not alone!
Nick.

(Agree about the website also, although it has been a little better recently in my experience)

Unfortunately, we are not a rare breed! The driver is the club of choice if you really want to send the ball deep into the woods where it will be impossible to find!

I gave up on the Breitling site a while back. It is just too heavy on fancy tech stuff and light on information.

It is a bit slow but at least they actually have info about their watches on it, unlike say...Rolex's website where you can barely find out what the diameter of the watch is let alone anything else, God forbid you try finding out how thick a watch is.

I agree. At least Breitling's website has all the technical details you need, and it properly lists all available dial choices in the configurator. I adore Rolex, Omega and IWC, but their websites are far from being informative.

The dreaded Flash. This used to be popular with web site designers years ago but most have given it up as it is too slow.

I know Breitling are aviation-themed instruments, but I could do without my laptop sounding like it's about to take off because the fan's kicked into high gear every time I visit the site. Mind you, the Rolex site is no better, and as has been mentioned already, at least the Breitling site is informative.

I wish companies would realise that while Flash once implied progressiveness and financial power, in these days where any high-school student with stolen software can throw together a sleek-looking Flash site, it's just clunky and slow. If they want to spend money, they should spend it on making videos which users can choose to play, and only force-download thumbnail images and tech data.

Glad It's not just me! I was real surprised and disappointed when I saw how awfully slow that site was. Their webmaster should be fired.

I don't even think it's just Breitling - I would argue that many luxury watch sites are terrible - Rolex, Panerai, Omega - they're either terrible to navigate or just have way too many things going on. For some brands and companies that pay so much attention to detail, it amazes me that some people with power at these companies don't realize how the experience is so disappointing upon landing upon their web-site.
