I'm thinking of picking up a new piece, something in the $15-20k range maybe. Short list includes:
1) AP ROO...not sure which of the many models
2) IWC Big Pilot in White Gold
3) Blancpain Fifty Fathoms
4) ??

Nothing from Panerai is singing to me right now(although I saw a DLC 233 that looked kinda cool). What else am I missing. General rules include:
1) 42-46mm
2) Steel or White Gold, no rose
3) In-House movement

All 3 listed are fantastic watches, and I speak from personal experience. The Safari and Black Themes are amazing watches in my opinion, the white gold BP is gorgeous with the adroise dial, but the timekeeping is not good, still though as much as I hate the 7 day movements poor time keeping I could not bring my self to sell the BP or BI as they are that amazing. And I have made my opinion on the FF well known, just cant go wrong with any of those but the Safari is a great addition I would think.

May I also suggest something from Jaeger? A fantastic array of watches and in that range you can get something very special and quite high end, best value of all.

If that was my budget, I would get the FF and a JLC Extreme W - Alarm second hand, excellent condition pieces can be had on time zone for about 14K for both, and you can add a second hand Porteguese and still stay under your 20 K roof, thats a fantastic and varied collection of high end pieces.

Also, I am a huge fan of the new Transocean, especially the rose gold silver dial. Something to throw in the mix of considerations.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I have the IWC 5001 with the 7 day and I have to say, mine has been extremely accurate.

I have the JLC Extreme World Chrono already, so the EWA seems too similar to me.

I want to check out an AP, but there's few AD's near me. I stopped by one yesterday but they had no ROO's.

Silly me for not checking your sig

An AP ROO will top off your fine collection quite nicely I think, or for a dressy watch a Jaeger Reverso 986, just picked one up and it is sublime!

I agree that the AP ROO seems like a logical next watch for your already impressive collection.

These are all very different watches, but would give you even more diversity in your collection:

-Breguet Type XXII
-Glashutte Original PanoInverse XL
-Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller

I still think I would take the AP ROO over these, but just a few suggestions.

Have you thought about Glashutte Original? They make a wide array of pieces in your price/size guidelines. Their dress watches would add a nice change of pace to your mainly sporty, and impressive collection.

What about the FF Dark Knight. I think that's an awesome watch an it can be had under $10k.

I agree, my 5001 has been extremely accurate...it's more accurate now than when I picked it up. When I bought it, it was two months old and +9 per day, now it's +4 per day. I could not be happier with that watch.

I think the dark knight is cool, but also gimmicky. I think i'd prefer the plain FF.

ROO, no question. With so many to choose from theres not way you cant find one thats perfect. I personally like the standard black dial Themes. FF is another awesome choice, but definitely second to the AP.

Also check out the Jaeger reverso squadra world time polo fields. Ceramic/titanium/carbon fiber. Its pretty awesome.
