Just a thought, and I know this has been mentioned.

Early 90's I bought my first Breitling, a White Dialed Colt Auto on leather. Great watch solid etc. Round about 2000 after two new straps it started losing time. I looked at service costs (I think £350ish then and it also needed a new strap £40ish).

I then did a lot of research and looked on the bay.

I sold my Colt Auto for £420 and bought a just serviced Black Dialed Colt Q on a Bracelet for £350. You do not need a calculator to work out the net saving.

I have since had the joy of owning 30+ Breitlings, some I have sold and some I have kept (the sold ones pay for the keepers).
So, to me that amount of money for a dial change....your call of course.

I've a nasty idea you might find that is just for the dial/hand change.

The watch will need servicing because it is out of the case, but at that price, and with a watch this new it will only be the basic 'oil change' service.

i had my chrono avenger m1 dial+hands changed and payed whit no service required 180€ around 250us i think

but a chrono avenger`s dial is way less elaborate than a super avenger, no raised white gold logo, and other things so the price difference

And your model is discontinued which seems to make it cheaper.

Why did you buy the white dial in the first place? :|

I don't think he minds spend the money guys. He really doesn't have a choice. Since he's quite rigid about owning a "new" watch, he'd lose about the same amount as the service if he sold his white dial and then bought a new black dial.

Let's do the math in dollars.

980 quid is approx $1,600

Sell the used white dial for $3,000

Retail in UK is higher with less chance of discount...so it's close to a wash...plus you don't have the hassle of selling the used watch.

It would be best to sell and buy pre-owned...

I hope you like black!

Lol

I don't really care what is best or cheapest to be honest.....if you think about it this way it's only the price of a new set of rims for your car....and will last a lot longer.

Would I trade in my new car for a used one with nicer wheels?...NO

Why did I buy the White dial in the first place?.....well I really wanted the black batons to begin with but when I went to my local AD I kinda fell in love with the White one so I bought it.

Now I've had it a while im bored of it...but the Super Avenger is still my fave watch.

Another thing that annoys me about the White dial is in low light it's really difficult to read the time.....the black dial has a much better contrast with the hands so easier to read In all conditions.

I also feel the White dial is more fashionable but the black face is functional and timeless so I reckon black is a keeper.

Not quite sure what 'rims' are but are they 25% of the cars value new? or 50% of it's pre-loved value?

Hell it's your money (let me send you my PP account name)
