Are they trying to sell that as style?

Al from England/Europe, you know where the History comes from...

Not my cup of tea either but I think the design makes more sense when you see the car it's based on.

I suspect it's been made more as a publicity vehicle

Well, Sharkmouth beat me to it.

The Bentley Supersports Convertible was on display at today's inauguration of Geneva's Motor Show:

The car recently broke the world ice speed record on the perilous frozen Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland. In the capable hands of renowned rally champion Juha Kankunnen, it achieved 330.695 km/h (205.48 mph).

I have a question for you: what is this "equipment" at the back of the car?

And here is the street model, an LE, built only in 100 numbered examples. Do you hear Breitling? A real LE.

Also on display was the Breitling Supersports Ultralight watch.

As you can see, the red color of the dial matches the cockpit and interior of the Bentley Superspots Convertible.

Thanks for the pics. After seeing the car, the watch does make more sense.

Not a 100% sure but if I had to guess, I'd say it is probably a parachute to slow it down.

Right on the spot

It was the only way to slow the car down on an icy surface, except maybe for an air brake.

ok after seeing the car i guess the watch does make more sense. But i still dont like the watch. now if breitling only made 100 pieces of it to match the 100 cars...then maybe that would be more impressive.

I agree that we can see the colour choice making more sense now, but the red on the watch is still way too overdone IMO. The Bentley has a little bit of red piping on the seats, whereas the watch as that whopping great red inner bezel. Grim.

It makes more sense now, but it still isnt a nice watch. If that bezel ring was black with red text, I think we would have a winner. This would be a killer:

:yeahthat I totally agree. If it's a promo piece, fine. Or even a limited edition of a couple thousand. But if they intend to make it a standard offering, that still blows, in light of all the other models they're discontinuing. I mean really - they dump the Blackbird and bring this out?

In the context of the car, it does make sense so I almost retract my original opinion. However, the class of buyer that can afford a LE Bentley SS could quite honestly care less about a LE Breitling IMO... A stupid watch for a stupid audience. It's a bit too Jersey Shore and apparently indicative of the crowd that Breitling wishes to attract in these times.
