I did not bang it and just wear it casually every day.

We'll see if Breitling agrees. Not saying it's going to happen, but this is a common area of wiggling out of warranty repairs for watch manufacturers. Just be sure your case is free from big scratches before you send it in. Dings may be a problem....But fight them on it if it comes up...

I don't recall Breitling ever using this excuse, and can't find any references here to it either. Breitling have refused warranty repair for obvious water damage when the watch passes pressure tests, but not for dings.

Exactly!!!! Though a small minority have had their own "issues" with BUSA, it is by no means SOP or my experience. Quite the opposite. The reality is most Breitling owners don't take care of their time pieces like most members here. Every day BUSA receives watches for warranty repair with scratches and dings. It's the norm, not the exception. To suggest this represents a palpable risk of warranty denial is silly and does nothing more than stir up anxiety. WTF?! How does that help??

I do know of a case where the wings logo fell off the dial, lodged between the hands an caused damage.

He was told the watch had been banged (it had) and he was asked to pay for the repair. (think it was still in warranty)

I can see that if the cause of failure is obvious impact damage - same thing for a cracked jewel or similar, but not for a 'normal' failure.

If I drop my watch and put a big old dent in it and it stops running, I'm sending it in thinking I'm paying for the repair. While I have no experience with BUK, I do with BUSA and cannot believe part of their diagnostic proceedures is to look for a way to wiggle out as was suggested by another member.

I don't want BUSA performing free repairs on abused watches because that just drives up the price of my normal service work. I hope they look for cause and origin and where it is clear, call the owner on it.

My point is- it's unecessary speculation for someone to posit BUSA will receive a watch with some essentially typical wear (more than they likely would get from members here) and look for an out.

well, I can honestly say my SA has never been abused. I wear it every day when not working, working out, or working hard.

I posted a few months ago that I did notice that my watch was slowing down considerably. It was always a few sec fast per week. Then recently it behaved slower almost without warning. hmmm. But it was no big deal if I had to adjust my watch every 2 weeks or so.

Could this be a tell tale sign?

Sure it could be, or it could be completely unrelated - it would be pure speculation without knowing the cause of either event (slowing down / stopping).
