I guess you could use it as a Breitling diary :?

Some excellent information posted in this topic along with a lot of interesting discussions :lingsrock: I wonder what will happen in the near future after Basel in April. The way I see it, if they do discontinue these models it might make it my best bet to just save up the cash and take a great deal on a pre owned model. Might be a bunch of people who could want the newest and may sell to fund their new purchase (hopefully). My Breitling plans are for this Chrono Superocean, Chrono Avenger and maybe some day a Navitimer  The Navitimer is a GREAT watch but it's lack of water resistance makes it more of a safe queen taken out from time to time for normal daily use. My love of the water would make it pointless as a travel watch for me, of course. What are pre owned prices like for those models? Seems to depend but in general the initial depreciation seems to make for some pretty good deals out there. My Rolex sale is annoying me and might end up keeping it and doing what was said above saving cash for the Breitling. Down side to that is it will take a bit longer due to some fast approaching expenses. Keep this discussion going, folks! Learning a lot about Breitling already from this great forum and it is already officially the brand I am going to be collecting :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock:

Sure the Navis WR sucks, but I don't think it would be a safe queen because of it. That thing has been around for about 50 years and people wear them every day, just don't jump in a pool with it or take a shower with it and you'll be good to go.

Your right, and the more I look at the watch the more obvious this becomes. For normal use my watches never get wet anyway other than for the weekly cleaning with watch sprap / dish soap and a toothbrush. Any suggestions for ways or products to properly clean watches like the Navitimer that will not cause water damage? If my Rolex stays in the collection a Chrono Superocean with a Navitimer and i'm a happy man for life :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock:

An Explorer II a CSO and a Navi sounds like an outstanding collection to me. Personally I love the Explorer II and if I had the extra cash I'd probably buy yours.

Yeah, it would be ideal. The more I go on the less likely it seems that my Explorer II will be sold. Plan to withdraw the listing very soon as none of the offers so far have been serious ones. Well, the one guy who mentioned the Breitling trades never got back to me yet and told me which ones he has. For the models on my list other than the Navitimer most can be had for well under $3,000.00 in most cases in great condition. For me though the Chrono Superocean is still my #1 pick of Breitling watches for now. Really hope to find a good deal on one. Part of me feels like if I did get an Avenger it could not take over for the CSO but at this point only time will truly tell what happens as there always seems to be a twist to thinks like me deciding to keep the Rolex.

Excellent pictures of your watch! :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :lingsrock: Man oh man, for me if this had to be my only Breitling there is no doubt it would keep me happy for a long time. Is this watch movement is 8 beats per second?

All the current Breitling models are 28,800 vph. The CSO is of course based on the Valjoux 7750 movement.

Hey, if you really want to drive yourself crazy, see this video review in the review section - http://www.breitlingsource.com/reviews_ ... n%20Review

Nice, thanks for that info :lingsrock: Love the look of the hand(s) sweeping at 8 beats per second vs the others that look a tad more jumpy with 5 or so beats per second. Absolutely love that video review :lovesloves: Funny thing is this watch was high atop my list back in 2009 at one point but around that time Omega was my desire. Omega has great watches but got so bored of my Seamasters. Had a 2220.80.00 bought in Nov 2007 and a 2200.50.00 Planet Ocean bought in July 2009 that are both long sold. Got bored of the bracelet on the 2220.80.00 and the Planet Ocean case shape, dial and bracelet got on my nerves after a while. Omega is cool but have no plans on going back down that road based on the current offerings and this Breitling is a no nonsense watch. Something that looks fantastic but is all about useful functions. There is a good chance my Rolex could become a safe queen after my Breitling purchase. Generally I am the one watch type person and will keep my others as backups or for the future if change is desperately needed.

My sentiments exactly.

Speaking of videos, check out this one. If this doesn't make you drool, nothing will. (Granted, it's the black dial, which isn't the one you're considering, but even so.)

This is my everyday wearer. I just recently put the Pro II back on, but I love this watch on brown croco. You can't go wrong with the CSO. Look at Sharkman... he has two!

I like the white dial on brown croco or calf - it just works so well on this watch. Also the black dial is smashing on brown or black croco. But mostly, I wear them on the ProII. I think the CSO suffers from the image it is a small watch, but it clearly isn't. It is chunky even on a larger wrist. It wears much larger than other 42mm watches I have. It's blingy without being "in your face." And the WR due to the screw down pushers is impressive. The crown is oversized for the watch, yet it fits well. It's a great watch and I'm sorry to see it go.

The OP asked about pre-owned pricing - what I've seen is $1800-$2400 from very good(visible flaws other than normal hairlines) to Mint condition(TZ rating). Still you may consider contacting on of the Forum ADs for an out of State purchase. A good discount + no sales tax more than makes up for the small price difference versus buying used unless you "know" the seller.
