It's true. Went to my AD today and they were retagging every B in the joint. SA's are $4500 now.

My AD in Philadelphia said they hadn't received the new price list yet.

I repeat, officially the price increase takes affect on Monday May 5th. Many dealers may be taking advantage of the price increase now, but in the US it is May 5th.

The reason for increasing the price now, is if the AD has to re-order the piece and it's not in stock tomorrow (Friday the 2nd) they will have to pay the higher price. If they lock it in tomorrow they still get the old price...

All AD's should have their new price lists by Monday. That's why you have a discrepancy with some dealers not having the new prices yet. They simply don't have them...

Any product shipped to the AD's May 5th or later will have the new prices...

I've never known a dealer to sell at the old price. If it is after price increase day they are required to sell all stock at current MSRP no matter what they paid for it.

Looks like Prestige Time has already marked up their inventory to the new prices. Check it out if you want to see the new retail price. Very scary. The Blackbird is just shy of 7K. Well that watch is officially off my list. I thought they were pushing it at just over 6K.

You are correct, that's why AD's are required to sell their product at the new price effective Monday May 5th. That is the official day any Breitling shipped to AD's in the US will go in to effect, as any product shipped on the 5th or afterwards will have the new price.

Many dealers already have their new prices and they are getting a head start on getting product tagged with the increase. Honestly, it's a smart move on their part as the new price will be paid on re-order.

Don't forget though Admin that Canadian prices were adjusted down last fall to reflect the changes in currency relative to the USD, so that will offset some of the hike for those of us north of the 49th.

That's ridiculous for a Blackbird.

You would think it would only affect in bound pieces.

Crazy.

Looks like I'll be kicking myself in the ass for not vacationing in Mexico this year. I seem to get the best pricing from AD's there.

Anyone have any experience with the AD in Antigua?

I agree with you Brian. In my industry, if the customer found out you paid the "old" price and charged him the "new" you would guarantee no repeat business and a horrible word of mouth. I personally think it's a crap policy. Yes they will pay the new price on reorder but they did not pay it on the one they are selling you right now and they will make the margin they were intended to make not the extra % that they are increasing prices by.
