Go for the big boy! By the time you get that SO you'll be so used to the size, wt. & color, you may decide to get a different color for a change anyway.

Timely post, I was thinking an OM could almost be a beater watch to take a chance on and see how I like an orange face while I save my pennies for a Coral SO. What do you all think of the baby monster? Too much of a departure from Monsters heritage with 4 0'clock crown and such? Does the different movement and see through case back make it too different to be monster-esque? I really like the bit of black on the dial and the orange bit on the bazel...but like the crown position and "grooves" in the basel/case of the original Monster better. Thoughts :?: Looking like an OM can be had for less than $200 and the Baby Monster for about $150-ish.

I have this one at the moment and I've also owned the Monster, to be honest I think I prefer this one as I like the crown position at the 3 better, I found the Monster crown used to dig in a bit.

The bracelet on this one (SNZF49J1) doesn't have the fiddly collar and pin arrangement either.

Here's a pic of my Monster when I sold it, along with a couple of extra straps (A Maratac Zulu and a Maratac Composite)

Hmmm, sounds like one vote for each. CarlJones do you mean big boy in size big boy as in Monster vs. Baby? I think the baby is actually bigger from what I have read. I am kind of digging the see through back on the baby, but the bazel/case with its matching grooves is pretty cool. There was a worn once Monster on ebay yester for 165 gone today that was a pretty good deal. Found the baby for $135 with free shipping brand new. Seems too good to be true for an automatic watch, but seems to be lots of love for the monster on on TimeZone. Probably should get them both and go from there. Still cheaper combined than the diver pro II with push button clasp from last week.

I meant the monster but jeez, that's a big baby! I like the bands shown, I understand with the holes drilled through the lugs, band changes should be easy?

I'd love to see the Cave Dweller next to the Monster.

I agree. CDweller seems like a great value too. I am kind of digging the all black PVD version with yellow dial. My only reservation is that I wonder if I had a few sub-500 dollar watche if I would actually wear them or if I would stick to my SteelFish most of the time.

Yes, very easy, one thing to bear in mind though is that you should always try and stick to the fat Seiko spring bars as others can cause wear to the holes, and those fat ones are a tight fit in some after market straps........................

Yea Stef. Is that yours? If so how do you like it and how does it wear? Seems a bit high/thick from the wrist up. I'd really like to see some of these in person. So hard to get an idea from pix and reading.

It was, I moved it on a while ago for no reason other than I wanted a Helson Buccaneer.

The Boschett is a great watch, beautifully made, the ETA movement kept perfect time and the PVD finish was superb!

It was a very chunky watch though!! Having said that, it was also extremely comfortable and the bracelet had that excellent micro adjustment.

The only issue I had was that it was near on impossible to fit the additional rubber strap that came with it, I gave up and only ever wore it on the bracelet.

Steelfish is a great watch and a tool watch for many here, but personally I'd still cringe if I wacked it. For me the CD or the Monster are kinda fun & I wouldn't loose any sleep if I wacked it every now & then. Another use for me as example, going to the beach & sticking in my shoe on the beach towel while I jumped in the water for a quick dip, come back & it's gone. I'd be pissed but again, wouldn't loose sleep over it.

But then what do I know, I don't have either one yet!

You know, that's a tough one to decide between, the Monster is great value, but so is the Cave Dweller and it has a great Swiss movement, for me if I was going to go for one or the other? The Cave Dweller without a doubt, probably not in PVD again though, not that mine marked but I've been there with PVD watches including the Breitling Skyland and Super Avenger and I was terrified of marking them!

So just a simple Cave Dweller with either the yellow or black dial would suit me.

It's a great watch and the bracelet is excellent too, reminds me of the faceted Blackbird bracelet (which is my favourite all time Breitling bracelet).
