Does anyone here own the Mercedes CLS550 or the Audi A8? I realize they look totaly different but would like some personal input and opinions from owners. Thanks!

Well, let's be serious, if you're considering cars of that league, you should take a look at the leader: BMW's 750i

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqSc-encjNY

If that's not enough, then the Alpina's B7 might suit you:

Or a more detailed report:

And if you're into Hybrids, then Audi or Mercedes cannot serve you there, but BMW can:

Prius anyone?

Hmmm...
CL vs A8.....CL HANDS DOWN! Never been an Audi fan and that generation (design wise) leaves all AUDI in the dust!

Now throwing the 750 BMW in to the situation... wow its tough, but I'll go with BMW. The new HUGE BMW Grills look amazing!

So here is one for you...

MB AMG or BMW B7?!

You won't be surprised if I perfectly agree with you

Which AMG I might ask? 'cause BMW is now a generation ahead  until we see what the new upcoming S-series can do.

While we wait, here's what a simple non-Alpina BMW can do against an S63-AMG.

Hmmm...

I would say price wise: let's compare the S63 vs B7 since the S65 is pushing 200K

My father bought the new S63 and that thing is a monster! Starting that thing up in the morning sounds like your starting a Harley! Also, I Love how the seats inject air on the sides for support on a turn...probably the coolest thing I've seen in a car in a long time!

When the CLS first came out, we checked it out at the dealership. I wasnt very impressed. Back seat is cramped, rear visibility is poor for both driver and backseat passengers. The interior was nice, but miles away from A8 territory. IMO, the A8 is superior in every level. S550 or CL550, and you might have a competition.

On a side note, the 2012 CLS550 should be out in a few months, so if youre in the market you should probably wait for that one. It looks like a 4 door CL.

Something about the CLS just doesn't do it for me...never understood why they would bother with that since they have the S series...plus significantly less than the S.

It was designed to be a 4 door that resembled a coupe. Long flowing coupe lines, but the practicality of a sedan. Considering that it costs a lot less than an S class, I can see where they were able to fit it in. Its inspired some imitators as well, so there seems to be something behind it. I just dont like the way it looks. The new one though...damn they did a nice job on it:

Check out the Ls460, Thats my next ride ,and they are amazing. Sorry If you guys think Lexus is boring but I like to own my cars for along time ,and not worry about poor electrical/maintenance . Bmw/Benz/Audi all are nice cars but once the warranty is up , you better run ... I have had 3 Lexs the past 7 years ,and wouldn't own anything else.

I used to own an S8, and a A BMW 740i, now the family car is a S 550, but my Car is a Lexus 460, by far the best car I ever owned! Never going back! :)

Though the German cars do look and feel more luxurious, I prefer the Lexus on every other front!

I have owned BMWs for the last 30 years and I didn't encounter a single problem. From the 318i up to the 540i I've had 16 different models.

Believe me, once you've driven BMW you don't go back, they're years ahead from their competitors, so I can hardly imagine driving anything else, especially with what is coming up

Agreed! I'm sorry but (JMO) Lexus can't be in the same category as a BMW or MB! I personally just sold my e46 m3 after 7 years and I loved that thing! Powerful(for a 6) yet luxurious and IMO one of the greatest BMW ever!
