Since Breitling isn't a 'luxury' brand it makes perfect sense to me that Breitling would want to associate themselves with a Pawn Shop.

Was being facetious....hence the 'rollin eyes' smiley face.

On side note about hacking into an account, i just went to log in and it said that I've exceeded the maximum # of log in attempts. Someone is up to some funny business. Luckily I have a 30 letter & number password.

On a discontinued watch?!? I know Breitling has done some silly things of late, but paying Pawn Stars to showcase a discontinued piece seems an idea beyond silly.

Those are good points, too. Since I don't watch the show, I'm pretty much talking out of my ass. (I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out what that actually sounds like.)

it's a very real possibility that Breitling set the whole thing up with the show

As I mentioned, I've been in the PR/Advertising business for 20 years. A&E as a network, and Pawn Stars as a show, has the perfect audience/demographic for Breitling. Primarily men who are active, educated, and of a higher-income. It doesn't make for good TV for someone to bring in a brand new watch to pawn - it wouldn't make any sense for the show. However, to bring in a perceived "vintage" piece (although Rick mentioned in the show that it's not very old), along with the "cool factor" that it has an emergency beacon, and its discontinued which adds to the perceived collectibility of the brand, and it makes perfect sense that Breitling would want to feature this piece.

I agree with others. Considering how savvy Rick is, combined with the fact that he wears a Breitling most of the time, I find it hard to believe he would pay that amount of money for the watch. IMO, Breitling set the whole thing up with the network due to its audience demographics and the fact that Rick typically wears a ling OR Rick wanted to add it to his personal collection (again though, I find it hard to believe he couldn't find one much cheaper) or he had a buyer in mind. The last two don't make sense to me because he paid too much money for it.

Or I have no idea what I'm talking about and maybe Rick just had an off-day and the old man kicked his ass later on for paying too much for the watch :P

The key is they got the watch for much less than it sells on the Strip NIB, so they can likely flip it for a profit.

I don't follow the logic of using a NIB price as the basis for how much they can get for a used watch.

Hey, no, I agree with you, but that's the logic of a watch buyer in LV on the strip, and that's who they're selling to.

So, I think im gonna buy some EMs on ebay and go flip them to the Pawn Stars. Sounds like easy money to me. :lingsrock:
The whole thing is kind of shady. These guys are in the business, and at the very minimum I know that they check ebay if they arent familiar with selling prices.

On a side note, anybody have the balls to give them a call and ask?
