Hello, I bought the following Breitling Crosswind for my husband for his upcoming birthday:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWAX%3AIT

I wish that I would have known of this site before I bought it, but I am new to the Breitling world and only came across it now. Could you please verify for me that this is an authentic Breitling? I received the watch today and it does appear as in the picture, but I could attach my own pictures of the watch if that is helpful. There is a certificate that came with the watch in French with a serial number, a Breitling service booklet in Italian (?), but I don't see a registration card. The serial number, according to the seller, is faint but has been polished down so that one has trouble seeing it; I cannot see it on the watch, but maybe I am not looking in the right place. I see D13355 in a box on the back of the watch case. Is it normal to polish off the serial number? I just want to make sure that for so much money what I've got is the real thing. Thanks in advance for your time.

Welcome to the site.
The watch in the ebay auction is real. Assuming the watch you received is the same then it's OK. Sometimes in the polishing process the serial number can be polished away. The serial number will (should) be below the reference number which is the D13355 and should match the number at the top right of the COSC certificate (513127) and be recorded in the warranty book.

If you look at the picture of the watch with all the documents, the large one at the bottom is the Chronometer Certificate. The serial # is in the upper right – Montre No The one with the picture of a Crosswind. Above the Chronometer Certificate is the owner’s manual. Really rather worthless as far as documents go. Above that, where the actual watch is sitting, is the Warranty Book. Go to the last page and you will find the model number and serial number typed in. The serial # should match the “Montre No” on the large Chronometer Certificate.

Then at just the right angle on the case back you will probably find the serial number, as Br549 indicated, below a somewhat larger collection of letters/numbers – the model number.

Everything we can see from the pics looks just right.

PS – you bought your husband a Breitling?? If you ever divorce, PM ME!!!!!

Thanks for the replies, y'all. My husband had a Crosswind he bought in 2004, but it was stolen two years ago. He's going to be so stoked about and surprised that I am getting him another :)
