I ordered a new Super Avenger from an out of state AD that has a strong reputation for service. When I called, I was told a new shipment was arriving any day and they would call me. Three days later I got the call and I ordered my watch. I recieved free overnight shipping and a nice thank you card inside the box. All of the packaging looks and smells pristine. The AD even took the time to wind it, set the date and time, fill out the warranty card, and register the watch for me. They were even going to size it but it slipped both our minds.
I checked the watch throughly and the plastic ws still on the pro 2 braclelet and clasp assemblies. I examined the case for flaws and I checked the movement against an atomic clock for accurancy before I sat down and sized it.
I'm happy very happy with the watch.
So, all is well - right? ......Right!
Then came an annoyance, a "brain worm" if you will. I found an SA on a forum for sale new in the box from a guy that bought it from the same AD. He bought it and decided it wasn't for him. In the pics there is a sticker on the casback with the Breitling logo and a plastic shield over the bezel.
Mine didn't have those two items. So I checked the pics of a fellow forum member who ordered his in the same dial color at the same time and it appears in his out of focus pic that his came with the shield also.
I called the AD and they were clueless, ot even an off the wall explanation!
Just cluess.

Any theories? I know it sounds trivial and it is. But imagine you and two buddies each order the same car. Thiers is delivered with plastic wrap on the seats and paper carpet protectors and your's isn't. You have to wonder why?

Thanks for listening to my neurotic rant.

The bezel preotector seems to be pretty hit or miss. Ive bought multiple Breitlings and never received one. Nice to have, but totally normal if you dont get one.

if the watch was on display at any point in time, it more than likely does not have the bezel protector, here is why. all new breitlings come with the same box, withe exception of solid gold and bentleys. when your watch comes into the dealer. the watch goes on display, with no bezel protector on it. papers for the watch get filed in a box and the box goes where boxes are stored. when you buy it, they grab a box,any box, they are all the same and find the correct papers that match your watch and pack it up and it goes. 90% of the time it has the caseback sticker. It will usually only have the bezel protector if its a new ordered in watch that hasnt made it on display at any point in time. I know its not a popular answer, but its what happens. i have gotten the bezel protector about half the time, but not when the watch was in the case. i have no doubt your watch was brand new, it just may have been handled. A couple times

Ive had special orders that never went on display and never came with a bezel protector. Also, the white outer box ive gotten sometimes has ID information for the watch inside so the dealer would have to match boxes with watches before they pack it up.

If my car came with the plastic on the seats I would be pissed! Take that crap off and let me sit on my new soft cozy leather seats. Relax and enjoy your new watch....I've had 14 Breitlings and not one has ever come with a bezel protector. You're gonna give yourself high blood pressure worrying about a piece of plastic that you'll never use.

I agree with you on that part - I really on't care about that.
What's bugging me is the missing plastic sticker on the caseback. Was this watch DOA and repaired? that's the mystery.
When I called on Saturday, there were none available. they were on order. I was notified on Tuesday that the shipment just arrived and such. Again, the salesman had no idea why it arrived that way.

I'm gonna let it go because the watch is fine, runs within 3 secs a day, and it's under full warranty.
Just one of those quirks - you know?

here is why the bezel protector is a pain in the ass. i bought my chrono space jet team, i ran in and picked it up, took my corum off my wrist, put it in the box for the jet team and put jet team on my wrist, but where to i put the bezel protector, believe it or not, it wont fit in the box with another watch, not on top of the travel case, not next to it, nowhere.

I highly highly doubt that you received a dead watch just because it was missing a sticker. It's just a sticker! If the watch arrived with scratches all over the caseback then I would be worried but we're just talking about a sticker... and anyway If you had the sticker it would be sitting in the box for the rest of the watch' life...it's not a big deal. I wouldn't worry about it...if it's working fine and it was in mint condition as promised I wouldn't sweat it.

I dont think I have ever received the plastic bezel protector and as far as the sticker.... who cares?? If they come with it, it gets removed forever. This is one thing that always bothered me with Rolex owners that never remove the green sticker from the caseback. That would be the first thing done!

Thanks guys!
I'm just being anal and I'm over it. Wore my new SA to my favorite sports bar tonight and the neon and bar lighting made this watch bling big time! I couldn't stop staring at it!

My watch came with both, but i specifically asked for the bezel protector. For some reason, I always wanted one after seeing so many pictures of people having one. Once I got it, it just stayed in the box. I never used it for anything. Not really a big deal.
