Realistic restoration costs for this watch should be around $300 to $400 for EVERYTHING. If you are paying more than that, you are getting ripped off. If you want a repair quote, contact me. I have done a lot of these - members on this forum know me.
Thanks, Craig

Thanks Chronodeco, that sounds in line with what Ive been quoted by the guys recomended to me. Im in the UK unfortunately or I would have taken up your offer for sure, since Ive seen lots of posts recomending your skills.

In pounds Ive been quoted £200 to £250, which i presume is a deliberately high number they give when all they have to go on is my desciption and some photos. I must say Im pleasantly surprised at this and will go for 'the works'

Now I wonder if it will be cheeky to ask the people who end up doing it to take some photos of the refurbishment for me. Im very intersted in the workings, in fact if anyone has an 'exploded' diagram of it, Id love see it.

Just wondering, is the 200-300 pound quote for a full restoration or just a repair to get it running?

Copy and pasted from one of the emails I got :-

To repair your watch including overhaul and service. replacement of
Worn or broken parts, clean/service , polish the original glass / replacement.
ultrasonic clean the Case and bracelet new button if required, time and regulate, Estimated between
£200.00 to £250.00.This is a rough estimate I would need to inspect
the watch in person to be able to offer a firm quote.

Sounds quite comprehensive to me. I woudl certainly be happy with this as long as the watch was working well.

edit: I must add, this quote has not come from the people recomended in this thread, and comes from a watchmaker that seems ok, and resides in the City of London down a road famous for watchmakers, but nonetheless, I have no way of knowing how good they are.

Im still most likely to hold out for the quote from Mr Burrrage at Ryte Time, since his work is so universally praised.

Thank you. I wasn't certain if they were offering the whole nine yards with a complete restoration as Craig was or were just offering to get you up and running.

With Uk prices generally being higher than North America that's a fair quote.
