I plan to take it to a local Breitling dealer to verify authenticity

Congrats, post a whole bunch of (good) pics up here. From what I've seen these guys are better at spotting fakes than some AD's. Congrats again.

There was at least one story a while back about a member who took a fake into an AD, just to see what the sales associate would say when looking at it. He said, "Nice watch."

I was actually watching the same auction and asked on our forum here if it was authentic or fake. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26160

And it got the nod from Roff and others so you should be good to go unless he shipped you a totally different watch. So I guess it won't hurt to take it to an AD.

Anyways, I didn't end up bidding on the watch but I'm glad it went to someone on this forum.

Got it today, it is perfect as the seller indicated. One of my buddies with a good D-SLR is supposed to swing by my house this w/e and I am going to shoot some pictures.

now I just need a reason to wear it! I run a race shop all day so I don't want to risk running it into something. Looking forward to hitting the town Friday night

For once, a dealer is smart enough to recognize his own limitations. Don't take this as a vote against the watch. More likely, the dealer knows he doesn't know enough to tell you definitively, and isn't willing to stake his reputation on it. The experts here can tell you what you want to know, but if you want to be absolutely assured of its authenticity, you can always send it to Breitling for verification.

BTW, great looking watch. I'm no expert, but it certainly looks good to me. Enjoy it.
