There was an AP ROO posted on timezone for sale and the buyer stated it just came back from a $3300 service with AP.

You would think that stating the price of the service, if that's what it actually costs, would drive some potential buyers away.

I would assume that the watch was in pretty bad shape or neglected for a long time. If it is out of warranty and requires some parts to be replaced, scratched crystal, refinishing, and an overhaul then yes I can definitely see it fetching that amount. If the same for a Chronomat would cost about 1000 USD, assuming 4000 value, then 25% of the ROO price for that kind of servicing doesn't seem out of the question.

My car would cost about 400 USD for a routine service, but a heck of allot more if I crashed it.

I would say this is most definitely the reason why I never looked at the Roo's, I couldn't afford a new one ,and would have to go second hand, my fear would be buying it second hand only to find out it needs some heavy duty servicing. There are alot of sellers who aren't as honest as say Shark or Altair ,and could very easily string someone along as there description of watch is in fantastic shape and needs no attention. I really do like the Roo's but think I may just stick with Rolex,Breitling until I hit that next Plateau in life 8)

the pricing for the service can be found here http://www.audemarspiguet.com/customer-service/ then click on maintenance and repair on the left and choose the watch you want to enquire about on the center of the page

Stunning watches, I'm definitely a big fan of the AP ROO line. However as others have expressed, they are definitely out of my price range at this stage. Maybe in a few years :D
