Hi,

I’m looking to buy my first proper watch.

Torn between the LE Blackbird and the LE Chronomat B01. It has to be satin finish. I think the polished B01 is a bit much.

I think I prefer the look af the Black bird, not 100% convinced on the bezel design with the B01. Can’t help thinking it will go out of fashion in a couple of years - but it has the in house mechanism.

So my question is:

Is the in house mech going to help hold the value/what real difference does it make?
Assuming that a Blackbird B01 will be out soon, will that affect the price of the current black bird?

Also not something not really mentioned here, insurance.

Do you guys just cover it on your house insurance or individual watch insurance against loss, damage or being stolen?
For separate cover, what would you expect to pay per year, or five years cover?
Also, do they provide cover against getting the replacement value of the watch – old for new, or just the market value?

I lot of questions I know but non I have seen answered here.

Cheer
Pip

BB red strike or BB blacksteel? Either way, definitely the LE C01 for me.

I meant the LE Blackbird Red Strike or LE Chronomat B01 Red Strike.

I like satin finish rather than the DLC.

BB Red Strike for me. (in-house vs. ETA movement isn't an issue for me on these)

Percentage retained value is likely to be the same in the long run so go with what you prefer. The B01 BB (if it happens) will be a different model so I don't see why it would impact the existing BB, we didn't see it with the Chronomat / Chronomat 01.

In terms of insurance, it's been discussed on here a few times and it depends on the insurance company. Some will have good coverage, some will have less great coverage and you'll want to look at specific jewellery / watch insurance.

Insurance...

£265 per year for 5k cover from TH March. And on that quick quote it doesn't mention 'old for new' cover.

Reluctant to put it on the house insurance as making a claim would then bump up the cost of home insurance for the next 3 years etc.
