And the price on the Bronzo is......?????

Probably less than you think. I heard $10,100 list.

I heard that estimation, dont believe yet, but hoping.....

If it is 10,100, then that is a VERY fair price considering!

Agreed, and may be enough to get me in

Well a bronze cased, green dialled PAM is different!

Hmmmm $10K's not too bad I guess for the 382 (although it'd be whole lot less bad if the FX rate was better!). It looks seriously "Jules Verne" to me - really very cool. I bet they're all sold out already!

The 372 would be pretty superb as well..... if only they hadn't put plexiglass in it! For me that is one "historic" feature that can, and should remain, exactly that - HISTORY! Totally impractical and offers nothing at all over sapphire IMO. (Yes I know some folks will say the plexiglass is "warmer" in how it looks, etc, but I'd be more than happy to accept zero scratches over visual warmth any day of the week).

One thing I just want to say though - Panerai really know how to make new models to stir the blood. It's quite amazing really when all their case styles (all 3 of them, plus submersibles!) are all a variation on just a single theme/"look", and yet they produce some superbly different and eye catching models every single year. When you compare to how much scope in terms of models Breitling has, it's amazing how often Breitling manage to cock it up with some of their designs. :? Maybe too much scope is the problem!

Well put Driver! I do agree that Panerai show allot of commitment to their current customer base while still innovating tremendously! As I read your post, I imagined if Sig Bonati was in charge of Breitling, and they only focused on the Navitimer and Chronomat line....

Buts till to be fair, all Galactic considerations aside, the new in house Navitimers are winners, so they aren't TOTALLY mocking things up (unlike IWC)

I don't know Altair, I don't quite get that display back. Seems almost like it's a caseback enclosed under a crystal if you know what I mean. You really can't see a whole lot of the movement. I don't think I get the point on that, but otherwise I think it looks pretty good.

Agree, can't see much of the movement with the plates in the way, almost seems not worth the added cost (if it indeed costs more to implement). The new case on the base model looks kind of interesting, but those models are just too big for me.

The large bridges are part of the movement, and a signature of Panerai movements. They exhibit excellent finishing and do show the jewels, guess its kind of like the difference between a busy dial and a clean one. I can appreciate both.

Love that Bronzo. The size is a tad large for my personal preference but I could wear it just fine. I dont like the suggested $10,100 price tag. To me that is the deal breaker. I wouldn't be in the market at that price point... for that watch. If and when I drop $10,000 on a watch, its going to have a lot more going on that that Panerai. I know that the giant bridge movement is a staple for Panerai, but honestly, for me its a negative mark against them when they have the display back. If there isnt anything to really look at, whats the point?

Maybe they will put the 312 or even the 112 in a bronze case. If the price is more reasonable I would be interested in that.

The other one lost me at "plexiglass". I mean, ......really? What the heck are they thinking. Im 100% in agreement with Driver8 on this model.

Here are a few pictures that show just how amazing the new Base is, it is actually a combination case of the radiomir cushion base with the Luminor lugs and croen protector, and a super dome just to top things off.

Oh yeah and a display back showing the gorgeous new in house movement:

Also just released, a third must have for me! A 47 MM Composite case 1950 case ala Fiddy with a brown dial and gold hands! Sorry no decent pics yet but I am sure you can extend your imagination!

Oh man... I love the sleek case. The best of both lines. I also wish it was a 44mm and also agree about the plexi glass. I'm too clumsy to keep the crystal scratch-less.

If I could afford it I think I would go for that even with it being 47mm. Quick question about the plexi-glass, is that kinda like the Hesalite that Omega uses on the Speedy? From what I here it's pretty easy to buff out any scratches that will inevitably come.

Different material, but same concept. Polywatch will clean it up, but it's going to scratch again. It's also less shatter resistant than Sapphire, although being domed and 3mm thick it will be pretty strong.

Wow. I really like that 372 in particular, that's beautiful.

Can't agree with most of you about the plexiglass, I think it's great. In person it has so much character, makes sapphire look dull by comparison. Yeah it can scratch, but guess what scratches even more easily? Polished Panerai bezels do. So you have to baby it even if it does have sapphire.

I have to disagree with you guys as well, Plexiglass is a very attractive material for watch crystals! Especially for something that is suppoused to have a vintage feel to it like the Panerais, JLC tributes etc. Plus the scratchness of Plexiglass is greately exagerated in my opinion, I had a couple of watches with Plexiglass and they where fine! Also, Plexiglass is more shatter resistant than Saphire and any scratches can be buffed out. Its a matter of taste and tolerance in my opinion.

In any case, you can order a saphire crystal from Panerai and easly have it installed, in fact I expect IWW will start offering taht service.
