Never has been according to people that I have asked who should know, but is still identified here as their best seller every few months on here. No way to know for sure as Breitling don't release sales figures on a model by model basis, but every time I ask I am told that it is still the regular Chronomat.

Makes sense to me because I'd say it's similar to the other thread talking about ages and a forum not really representing the true numbers. Someone buying their first watch in the range of 4k I would think of as being a little older and most likely not a watch forum member, so think it's very likely they would go for the best looking mid. sized, mid. priced, offering. I was in that position about a year and a half ago and went with the BB, and bought the SA as my second watch. An interesting poll that could prove this theory is for all Chronomat and SA owners to state whether it was their first ling, or an additional one. I'd bet the Chrono would rate higher % wise as a first, and if that is the case for dedicated watch people, then it would make a lot of sense for the general public too.

Yeah I'm bored. Just waiting for the delivery truck to arrive. :D

Sure is, and I would like it to be a Breitling, but my budget didn't allow to get what I would want (6.75) , so bought a Ball. I like watches but don't consider myself a fanatic like most on here probably are, so when I buy something I like it to be very different, and with a brushed BB, and blue dial-silver subs SA, I think this qualifies. There's a good chance it will be my only purchase for the year, and I'll probably disappear from the watch forums for a few months to focus on other things. That said, I think I'll be quite happy with my three. (multi thousand dollar watches are for the most part beyond my means so I unfortunately have to get back to reality) So now I guess it makes a little more sense my replying "awesome" to the price increase. :D

Ball makes some really nice looking pieces. Congrats! Let's see some photos when you get it!

Your comments are right on for me. I'm MUCH older than the demo would suggest I should be. I'm looking for my first "expensive" watch & my choice is the Chrono Evo (when I find what I'm looking for).

Andrew, let's just say that the US retail price of a particular watch which shall remain nameless is $7100 on calf, $7420 on croc. I didn't get a price for the bracelet.

Wouldn't this be a currency-driven price increase? USD has weakened, therefore US list price goes up.

Happens here every time the AUD weakens.

Probably.

The amount may be reflective of currencies in order to keep global prices broadly in line (which Breitling apparently strives to still do), but you'll likely see increases elsewhere as well. Already happened in the UK, and while not announced in Canada yet it is inevitable to avoid US buyers buying from here which BUSA gets very upset about. Other markets are bound to follow.

This is very true. The dollar has fallen about 10-12% compared to the Swiss frank in the last couple months. I was told it was a cause for the increase.

All this talk about accounting and I had to step in. Dealers most likely will sell inventory based on the inventory method (LIFO, FIFO) used. I would doubt very much that the transition inventory would be treated any differently.

After all...with the large discount option afforded to Breitling dealers, owners can set their profit margins by the amount of discount offered. Just because 25% discount can be had doesn't mean AD's have to allow any greater discount than they are willing to loose on profit.

I like Rloff's idea of slowly pulling in the reigns on the discounts. Bring it to a reasonable 7-13% withing a couple years, and you wont run off the entry level "luxury" watch market, which is what I always thought Breitling represented better than anyone else.

True.

I'd be surprised if we see an increase here though. With the USD and AUD at parity, our list prices are now around 25% higher than US prices. We could even see a price reduction - we had one already about 8 or 9 months ago.

Yeah that is similar to the situation that we had in Canada a couple of years ago and it led to a reduction. Now Canadian and US prices are virtually identical (numbers speaking) and with the Canadian $ just above par we will inevitably see identical increases.

Not sure what's happening in Europe after the UK increase, but then I'm not sure how the Euro has performed against GBP and USD in recent months.

I have actually been curious about the pricing on the Non-LE Lings when they hit the market. How much of the price premium attributed to the LE aspect, and how much is attributed to the in-house aspect.

In other words....if said watch that shall remain nameless is offered at $7100 on calf, and a comparable watch like the standard navi retails for $5100 (for comparrsion sake) what does the $2000 premium represent.
