As I get closer and closer to getting my first Breitling and first real watch I'm starting to rethink it. I really love Panerai, and I keep thinking maybe I should keep saving and get a PAM312. I love the idea of owning an in-house movement and a watch that someone on jersey shore doesn't own haha. But really, what do you guys think? I really do love the white baton dial SA, I've wanted one for years.

The nice thing about watches is that you can have more than one mistress without getting in trouble, but like women they both cost ya money. Visit an AD and get the one that speaks to ya loudest, then you can always work towards the obtaining the second choice.

Buy the one you want more. If the cost wont kill you, ignore the price and make sure that you do it right. Buying the wrong one and selling it a few months later only ends up costing you more money.

Like the others have said, you should get the one that you really love. Personally I'd go with the 312 between the two, but I've never been a fan of the SA. I think the 312 is a more versatile watch that can be catered to different situations with the simple change of the strap, but if the SA is something that you've always wanted then maybe that's what you should go with. In the end it's a call that you will have to make, as I'm sure you know, and the best advice would be to find an AD that sells both and try them out at the same time.

I've never seen a single minute of Jersey Shore, but everything I've seen related to it - including The Situation's appearance on Dancing With the Stars, Snooki's new book, and RJ's motion-sickness inducing GIF - tells me I've probably made a wise decision. I'll just try to ignore the fact that Breitling is a favored watch brand among that crowd.

As for the OP, I agree with others that you should get the watch you really want, provided you are able to afford it. As for guiding you on what that watch would be, that's a tough one. Watch preferences are so subjective, and the PAM and SA are very different animals. Personally, I've never been a fan of the SA - it's too huge and over the top for my preferences. And generally I like Panerais. But which one is right for you, only you can say. In situations like this, I typically advise holding off deciding for a while, and see how your feelings adjust over time. Obviously if you can see both watches in person, that would be helpful, but as long as you're feeling unsettled, hold on to the cash. Take it from someone who hasn't followed that advice often enough.

Thanks a lot everyone, I have never tried on a PAM, come to think of it I don't think I ever seen one in person. I guess thats the best place to start ( go try one on! )

312 is a great watch for many reasons. the only thing is that you may find it hard to get one when you actually have the funds. they can be hard to locate due to limited quantities.
