I went into my AD to get some spring bars for my new diver pro ii strap. I was given 1.5mm bars which appear much smaller than the 1.8mm bars that came with the steel bracelet. Is 1.5mm the right size for the rubber strap on a Super Avenger?

Don't have the details with me, but that sounds too small. However, 1.8mm sounds too large for the bracelet - from memory I thought the bracelets were 1.5mm and the straps were 1.6mm, but as I said, that's from memory.

I'm hesitant to leave the bars in that I was just given. How do I go about measuring what I've got, and I can report back?

There was a thread here a while back that went into detail about which spring bars were correct. You might be able to find it in a search.

i just went to my AD and they used the same spring bars on my SA for the diver pro II strap. It was working fine, until i went back to the pro 2 ss bracelet because the rubber strap didn't fit my wrist.

In my opinion, a sticky would be useful that includes an all-in-one tutorial on how to change a breitling strap, along with the recommended Breitling springbar sizes for the different models, as well spring bar sizing based on the strap material ( leather or steel). I've found threads that detail some of this info by searching, however the results are a bit ambiguous.

That's because the springbar issue results in conflicting comments from people. When I find the time I'll put the springbars in a micrometer but it's not top of my list of priorities. There is already a 'better than sticky' on changing a strap, but evidence would suggest that we have to tell people that it exists every single time this comes up - they don't find it by looking at the site or by searching previous threads.

I understand, and I'm aware of the video tutorial on how to change the strap. I just thought it would be nice to have one thread that contained all of the information, (springbar sizes, how to change, and maybe even where to buy additional spring bars).

No rush! I threw the Pro II bracelet back on until i can get the correct sized spring bars.
:)

I know this won't answer your question directly, i.e., exactly what size spring bar in diameters you need but it may be helpful as far as determining the type of spring bar.

About midway down the thread, Ron's article on spring bars.

Hope this helps.

A little off topic but I went into the Breitling Boutique here in Abu Dhabi and was told that the Pro II strap has been discontinued has anyone else heard this? Yeah you can guess the next bit that I should but this other Breitling rubber strap that they had on hand. I didn't.

I very much doubt that is the case. It was only introduced at Basel 2010 when the Diver Pro was discontinued.

I agree with you on the DP being discontinued but how come it's still on Breitling.com?
