Hello Frank,

I just bought it today off of my watch maker. (That's why it's in such great shape)

I believe this watch was made from 1969 to 1972.

I don't know a lot about the watch but I think it's quite rare.

Enjoy the photos and feel free to chime in if you know anything else about it.

Cheers,

Mark

I posted this at a UK based forum and got a lot of info I have pasted in some of the replys

Yes this is an less common version from Omega.
This example you show here is bead blasted, should be polished and machined.
And the inner bezel is missing its numbers.

yes, these are very rare omega watches. Have seen them sell on ebay for 6-7k in the past, but as the above poster suggests the watch does have a number of problems.
here is what a good one should look like:
http://www.30t2.com/Bullhead/bull_1.htm

It is a cal 930 Omega Chronograph from circa 1969, made for approximately two years and sold in very small numbers. 930 movement used only in this and a really nice De-Ville chronograph
Image
At the time of production it was the cheapest Omega Chronograph available, designed as an entry level 'fashion' chronograph to run alongside the Chronostops range and marketed as part of the range.
Image
Because the didn't sell well at all they have become very popular and sought after, especially because physically they are very 'different'
Image
If this one is yours well done, if you have a chance to snag it cheap go for it! The movement looks very clean, the images I have provided are of my own NOS example, they can be easily brought back to life by STS or Bienne, I personally used STS for mine and was really pleased with the results!

One thing to be wary of is the pin bar attachments for the straps, there is a tendency to over polish them and I have seen examples where they look cosmetically superb but they have been re-polished and the spring bar holes (which are very close to the case edge) have worn and the strap wont stay on.

In terms of value, they have sold very high in the past but I have seen two very nice examples sell on the bay in the last two weeks for between £2500 and £3500, that said, I would say in real terms it is worth (restored) about £3500 - £4500 (IMHO)

Hope this info helps?

Very nice watch. I don't know why but when I saw that Omega I thought of the new Tudor Heritage

Sonyman, thank you for the useful information. I am enjoying it very much.

Your Bullhead is beautiful!

I'm in the US and need to find a bezel insert for it and have it brought back to its original polish. It's on a bracelet so I don't have to worry about the strap situation.

I will wear it until I goes away for it's face lift and then list it in an antique watch auction.

I have gotten many compliments on it and people can't believe that it's from 1969!

Sasho: That is a cool Tudor. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark just had a reply from a very highly regarded Omega expert in the UK

I think he should only really trust Omega Bienne or STS for refurb but neither will be cheap, Also looking at that case I think it might actually need a trip to a lapping machine to get it right, it looks to have lost a lot of the original profile! Warn your man to be careful when getting it done, if he needs any guidance tell him to get in touch

Cheers Tom
