It's nice to see what appears to be a genuine piece on ebay for a change. I've known the seller for the last few years and in the last year he has liquidated most of his Breitling vintage collection to finance a new house purchase. He had some very rare pieces in his collection including Copilots, Navitimers, Cosmonautes, Unitime's, Superocean's, etc.

Reasonable, but I don't think that it will go that high.

Would this be worth more to the average collector restored or as is?

Personally I think I would like to see it cleaned up and then reassess. I suspect that it will look a lot better with a good clean and refreshing the lume, I would want to avoid anything beyond that if at all possible.

One thing that I do notice looking at it again (and again, and again) - it's very early to have the 3 minute segregations on the chrono minutes.

What do people think of the double ref numbers? Personally they make me nervous.

The 786 is the three register chronomat, while the 801 is the moonphase.

Here's an 801 that was posted here a while ago. It only has the two markings, date number and 801.

I think that the cases were stamped up with the regular model number and then had the moonphase reference added - I've seen quite a few like this so not unduly concerned. The serial number is consistent with the 786 model number so again, I'm OK with that.

The 812 just got cancelled on eBay without 12 hours to go which annoys me. Last time I checked bidding was just under $2k, I guess he got the price he wanted on TZ.

Do you know what it went for in the end Paul?
