Hi Folks!

If some of you could share your thoughts i'd be most gratefull. I haven't been to Turkey before, maybe some of you have but i'm wondering about my breitling's safety over there.. Do any of you bring your lings with you on holiday? Ever any problems??
Sorry if it seems like a stupid question but i wear my breitling every day and i absolutely love it. I would severely miss it if i didn't wear it for 2 weeks!!

I'd left it at home and stop thinking ˝what if˝.

I have been to Turkey before, namely Istanbul and it felt safe and crammed with turists. i had a late night walk back to my hotel once and no one tried to stop or mob me:)

That is my humble opinion, but it is easy for me to risk ur own watch so the call is urs busddy

Ken, r u talking about getting the watch back through customs? Or are you worried about being mugged, as the locals might recognize you as a tourist?

I have worn my Evo just about every place I have traveled---just be cautious and use good situational awareness to avoid a bad area/scene Remember the Duck-if it looks like a Duck it must be a Duck. If it looks unsafe go the other way Have fun and post us on your return. My wife and I will be visiting Turkey next fall.

Funnily enough... I was thinking the exact same thing.... though admitingtly my destinations are a bit more strange....

I will be laeving on Wed for Iraq (work), then travelling to Pakistan (work), then To China (work) this will be done in a space of a week.... and finally a weeks long vacation on the caribbeans.........

As my chrono Evo with diamonds is my regular day to day watch am worried about its and my saftey too... not sure what i should i do... Definitely will be needing a watch..

aeromansoor - Can I ask what it is that you do for a living that takes you to such interesting places?

I am an Solutions Architect, for aerospace and defense . It means i get to travel quiet a bit... mainly in Europe but at least 4 time a year outside the EU... first time for me to go to interesting destination such as these...lol

Thanks guys, I think i'll take the chance - I'm 6'4 after all! Was a bit concerned about the customs maybe being a bit strict but it will prob work out ok. Thanks for the input and if anyone here is planning holidays, Ireland is quite lovely at the moment! We don't often get such nice weather (22 degrees cel) but when we do it's even more apealing! Thanks again!!

here here kenseymour! Ireland really is lovely at the moment. Although just been out on the golf course and face is really sunburnt!!!

Donegal is probably the most beautiful place i've ever been to!!

While I've never been to Turkey (enjoy mate!) I do travel quite a bit for business, EU and all over NA- I have a rule:If I've never been there before, States or anywhere really, I wear an old Suunto Mariner & keep the Ling in my travel bag waiting for dinner w/clients. If I have a good lay of the land then I break out the SA or SO on subsequent trips. No reason to tempt fate. I also insist my wife keep her ring off the first time around on any trips she accompanies me on. No harm in keeping something in a travel bag - no one knows to nick it if they haven't seen it.

Why take the chance?..........leave the Ling at home and wear a cheapo.......it will be there on your return .........think what you would be like if it had been stolen in a foreign country, if you do take it, check and double check your insurance for whichever country you are visiting.

Turkey is a great place to visit and has been said before perfectly safe providing you follow simple rules that you would anywhere else, Kussadasi is a lovely place and so is Istanbul you will find many fakes of all brands openly on sale in street markets and although most are cheap $10-$30 there are some really high class fakes around as well that need very close inspection, There are also plenty of helpful ADs around that will give some very healthy discounts if you are tempted by a new watch.

The main concern I have with taking anything of value abroad is availability of a room safe. Most of the better hotels have them, although you'll normally need to pay extra to use it
Went to quite a nice 4* hotel which had safety deposit boxes in reception rather than in room safes which was a real pain in the arse everytime you wanted to get something.

I picked up my Chronomat EVO in Turkey while on hols last year, just over half UK RRP. Got the tax refund in Lira though, but just changed it up back here. Ali at the Bodrum Goldcentre is a sound guy. They even pick you up and drop you back in a taxi, and we weren't even staying in Bodrum

you will be fine in turkey. i have been numerous times and there will not be any issues.
