Broke that one once; didn't end well. I think "no dating" is probably a much better rule if you want an easy life.

Who was older, you or him?

As one who has dated plenty of older women in my time, my question was genuine and sincere. (But hey, I'll take the points anyway. )

I'm 30 and tons of the women I meet seem to think they are perpetually 19ish. Still can't get thier shit together at all. Had one who needed help making car payments at 24. I had to kick her out because she simply didn't want to work. Thought saving the whales, turtles, penguins, dolphins and every other riduculous thing was more important than providing for one self, and I should do it for her. Tons of them can't hold down a real job. This may include men too but I don't go around meeting them so I may have a skewed sample.

WTF, seriously?

Where are the independant women who want a partner you hear them all talk about themselves as? All I can find are vain, petulant and pretentious overgrown children still unaware of thier blatant irresponsability. Totally and completely ignorant of thier astronomical failures on nearly every measurable level. I've met a couple 28 year old women lately who don't have thier shit together half as well as I did when I was 17.

And I consider myself a pretty easy going laid back guy. Can't imagine what the picky guys are doing these days...

Anyways, hey guys what's up!!!

Give them to the Trailblazers - they will need them.

Disclaimer - above from a fellow going through a divorce. Perfectly natural, every one stay calm. It will pass.

Edit - dolphins are cool. Penguins? Eh.

If I were a Portland native, that might hurt, but being Southern Californian by birth (and a good portion of my life), I'm a Lakers man.

As for Justin's comment, I'm steering clear of that one. But I feel his pain.

I'm all for having a girl with a hobby or a cause. Anything to keep 'em out of trouble.

Hobby or cause shouldn't preclude providing for one self. If she wanted to stay home and take care of the house, that would be fine as well. House wife or even a Mom, sure. I'm open minded. But me working, doing all the chores around the house, paying all the bills, doing the cooking, so the other person can go to protest meetings and paint signs. Ummm no.

STFUGTFO PLZKTHXBAI!!!!

I'm not bitter, I'm honest!

Me. I was 27, he was barely 20.

Justin, I think the independent ladies you have in mind are just that-- they don't have time for, or interest in, a relationship. The majority of the people I know who like you describe want relationships to have someone to "prop them up" financially or emotionally. The rest (myself included) just can't be bothered with the hassle/baggage of a relationship because they're too busy doing all the things that make them independent, and they really don't want anyone around that might mess that up. Trying to find someone both worthwhile pursuing and actually interested in a relationship is probably very difficult. You sound like you escaped a very unbalanced and dodgy situation; it's entirely understandable you're feeling gypped about the whole thing. At least now you know what you don't want, and that's something?

Disclaimer: I admit I still am massively irresponsible in some respects, but I certainly don't expect some poor guy I've just met to have to deal with it or pick up the slack; I don't think that's fair. Then again, I aspire to a life of perpetual bachlor(ette)hood, so I'm probably not representative of single females of my age group.

Ok Tom I am breathing deeply.

Anez,

While I lasted quite some time before getting married, the desire to raise something bigger than myself in a family was always something I wanted. At the end of the day, I think I made a bad decision yet for the right reasons in picking this person. It was pretty much a completely different person once the papers were signed. 3 months later, boom it's over!

You are probably 100% right about the ladies to be honest. I hope you do live a life that you desire and are proud of, but all my accomplishments, travels etc, well I just think they would have been a tad more special had I shared them with a special someone.

I'm giving up on finding the love of my life. Instead, I will lead a life of love.

I LOVE TOM AND NATHAN, in a manly heterosexual high 5 for Ling kinda way!

Better now?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Interesting. According to the half plus 7 rule, if you were 27, he should be been at least 20 years and 6 months. So, you were right on the threshold of age-related creepiness. In my book that's a thumbs up, and I say good score. He was probably thinking the same thing, until you punted his ass.

Justin, dude I sure am glad you clarified that at the end of that statement. You were starting to get me a tad nervous there, in a manly heterosexual kinda way. I was thinking maybe Jackson's Blinged Nike might of lured you in...or the fact that you almost fall into Tom's age dating category. :poke:

At least they're not doing it to watches that I give a crap about. Blinging out a $99 G-Shock I can deal with, but not a Steelfish, that's just wrong.
