I try not to be a dick on the internet... anymore.

I totally respect that, and I feel the same way. Having said that, I think a little good-natured ribbing of some bling artist on Youtube who talks about his macked out quartz Bentley being "the real deal" falls this side of dickish. I mean, if he's going to put himself out there like that, he's got to be able to take what comes back at him.

...You might have a point there.

And I just realised that I will have been on the internet for half my life at some point in the coming year. Gosh, I feel old. Well, hey, without spending alarming amounts of time online, I'd never have found sites like this, right? Right. :D

Back to topic!

I'm not sure if you're trying to take a jab at some of us by calling yourself "old" at almost 28 or if you really feel old. lol. Than again, I do remember a long time ago feeling old when I was turning 28.

It's actually a testament to how young you are if you're at an age where it is even physically possible for you to have spent half your life on the Internet. I was only two years younger than you are going to be when I started going online in earnest, which means it won't be half my life until I'm 52.

I bought my first Breitling at 52!!!!!! :lingsrock: I got on the internet at 38. :drunk: But I can honestly say I feel younger today than when I got on the internet. :cheer: And it has nothing to do with watches. :nana:

I certainly never meant to take a pop at anyone! Sorry.

I think it's because a lot of my friends are younger, and to be completely honest, I don't "feel" 28 in the sense that how I feel and where I'm at in my life doesn't match up with the idea I had, mentally, of what someone who was 28 should be doing/feeling. I really don't feel I've changed at all since I was 21 or 22, and to know that I'm actually approaching 30 is rather alarming considering it feels like I only had my 21st a few months ago, and I still have no clear idea about what direction I want my life to go in. That's all I meant, I swear. :poke:

If you are lucky you will feel the same way at 38, and 48! I'm convinced our mental self image gets set somewhere around age 21. Good thing that psychiatrist member isn't active these days on BS.

T'was ever thus. 21 was my last cool birthday, because I could drink legally. At 25 I felt old because my car insurance rates went down, which means I was officially considered "safe" by corporate America. At 30 I felt old because I was turning 30. Now at 38, I cringe at the big 4-0 creeping ever nearer, and lamenting how silly I was ever to think that 30 was old. And no doubt when I'm approaching 50, I'll look back and wish I was a sprightly 40 again.

The moral of the story is, you are always older than you once were, and younger than you will be. Or, put another way, all you 20-somethings who think you're getting old need to shut the f*ck up, because you're not. Quit your bitching and live a little. Worrying about it doesn't make you age any more slowly.

Point WELL taken but remember that applies to 30-somethings too!

Crap, for me 30 was just an excuse to have a big party and get wasted, 40 was just an excuse to have a good party and get wasted, 50 was just an excuse to have a good party. And other than that, I could never understand the efficacy of the self-imposed angst.

Now 60! Ahh that is an entirely different matter. That's just fu$%&ng OLD!

I keep trying to remind myself of that. I never said I could follow my own advice.

And don't forget the "half your age plus 7 rule" for dating. Younger than that is just twisted.

Right on the fence. Besides once you have a daughter who reaches 18, well, much younger than 1/2+7 becomes creepy.

Broke that one once; didn't end well. I think "no dating" is probably a much better rule if you want an easy life.

Can relate Tom....got one 22 myself buddy....and a son 28. I figure a lady 35-45 is just about the right age, keeps 'em out of that "Creepy" age bracket. Just as long as she doesn't need a freight train to haul her emotional baggage if ya know what I mean.
