NEVER be worried about what other people think. You made decisions in your life that have allowed to afford some of the finer things, ther is NO shame in that!!!!! :lingsrock:

I don't agree with that logic at all. I think you have to be careful with the message you send to people that work for you. It has nothing to do with being able to afford things, and more to do with the perception that you are giving to the people that work under you. Companies can't afford to pay everyone top dollar, and people earning an average wage for the most part DO NOT understand that type of purchase. Right or wrong they feel that the person who can afford luxury items is being overpaid...and that is money that THEY can or should be making (I don't agree with that logic, but it exists).

Sorry FEAR...I won't go off topic again.

:?: WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO EXPLAIN YOUR PURCHASES TO AN EMPLOYEE? THE ONLY PERSON YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN A PURCHASE TO IS YOUR SPOUSE, AND THAT IS BETWEEN YOU TWO ONLY!!!!! THE PERSON ON FOOD STAMPS DID NOT MAKE THE SAME LIFE CHOICES YOU DID. IF THAT PERSON WANTS THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE THAN THEY CAN, IF THEY ARE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABLE CAN WORK HARD AND DO THE SAME. I AM AN X-RAY TECH, I MAKE A GOOD LIVING. I HAVE TWO BREITLINGS, A PLANET OCEAN, A TUTIMA AND A BAUM ET MERCIER. I LOVE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO AFFORD THE FINER THINGS!!!! HECK, IT GIVES ME BEUTIFUL THINGS TO APPRECIATE. NEVER EXPLAIN YOUR LIFETSTYLE TO PEOPLE WHO ENVY YOU OR COVET YOUR THINGS!!! YOU ARE AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED, BE PROUD OF IT!!!! :cheer:

"little bit of both, list on that watch is a years salary for some of my employees"

You may get many opinions on this but here is mine...

Since they are your employees I'm going to take it you own your own company...good for you and you should be proud of that! Big risk BIG reward as my father always told me. They don't like it...tell them to start there own business then and maybe one day they can afford one too. :D

I am not the owner, but i am the boss. Fact is my boss cant afford these these things either. Im proud of what i accomplished, i eared every cent myself with my hard work, and there is a reason i am paid what i am; i am the best at what i do.

that being said, i wouldnt want my boss flashing a 30k watch in my face while i cant afford dinner, but he made those life choices, i get enough shit for driving a new s class to work, but its a fine balance i guess.

Now, I know I said I'd have gone for the black dial version on your other thread FEAR, but now I've seen those pics, I think you made the right choice going for the white dial after all! Very nice indeed. (Just make sure you keep it well away from any solid gold bracelet nonsense! )

First off...Congrats FEAR on a wonderful purchase, enjoy your new centerpiece for years to come!

Second, i totally agree with John. Regardless if you're a business owner or a corporate manager, when your in charge of people you need to check the flash at the door and be humble. If your employees start feeling that you're overpaid and can afford to live an extravagant lifestyle while they struggle you make ends meet, you will create a major disconnect. A manager who is disconnected from their employees will fail everyone.

Enjoying the finer things in life and taking pride in your accomplishments is wonderful, but when you're in charge of others you have to be somewhat humble. Sporting a $30k watch while they're earning $10/hour could be problematic.
