Hey fellas its been awhile since my last post. I've had the Panerai bug for the last year or so. Im thinking about making another Breitling purchase and have my eyes on the slate Avenger Skyland. Then I noticed the newer versions have like silver matt numbers while the previous had white stencil. Not sure which is nicer. Hard to compare looks as I have never since them pictured together. I was kinda stuck on the older version but now they are hard to come buy at an AD. Any opinions on the two would be awesome, pics would be even better. I was hoping to get one and and put it on and Ocean Racer or Gold Croc.

well the new ones are just call the avenger, so that may help you when searching for pictures. the breitling site allows you to build a model with any available dial or strap so you can see what it will look like.

I had the white and I have a Steelfish, it has the stainless numbers. Of the two the white was much easier to read in any kind of light. Other than that both Avenger's are great watches. Wish i could have kept mine.
best health, Frank

I much prefer the white stenciled found on the Avenger Skyland over the matte silvered ones on the Avenger.

Though the Steelfish has the darkened silvered arabics at 6/9/12 it isn't a problem in low light due to the killer lume on the Steelfish. The AS and Avenger have small lume dots on hours that aren't very helpful IMO. White stenciled AND lumed arabics would have been a welcomed touch.

I have the black dial AS and like it very much, especially on a brown croco strap.

Here is a photo of them side by side. The numbers on my Steelfish are polished. Miss the Skyland but it had to go.
Hope this helps. Best, Frank

What you find on the Avenger arent matte numbers, it shoud be polisched numbers. Atleast my Avenger has polished numbers (as you see blow), but it is a LE. As far as my knowledge goes it is polished on both.

I like them polished more, but its everyones own opinion so I would go with whatever you like most :)

Correct they are not matte - polished. But they are identical to the SF arbics, sort of a darkened polished steel or silver. It is avery different look than the AS.

I prefer the plain baton markers over both types of numbers.

I find the AS numbers much easier to read that the 3, 6, 9 on the Steelfish. The white 'pops' a little more in a variety of lights.

Old stencil white numbers for me as it gives it more of a 'toolish' look in keeping with the design and image of the Skyland.

Another vote for white stenciled. They just seem to suit the AS so well.
