Hello all, I had posted a while back about my watch and who I could take it to for restoration, well I did not send it to the guy you all told me to send it to and now I have a story to tell.
I took it to an "Expert watch repairman" and he had it for 4 months, one day I got a call that the guy had passed on and I could pick up my watch at any time.
I went and picked up the watch and it wouldnt wind up anymore, I do not know what he did but he didnt do it right.
I took it to another guy and he said it would be no problem to fix for 300, I said no and decided to sell it, it was fun owning a breitling while it lasted though.
I am sorry for ever doubting you guys.
I know you guys wanted to see a picture of it and I couldnt get one to load so here is one now.

You live and you learn... hope you get your enthusiasm back... vintage collecting takes a lot of trial and error... same went for me... had some very expensive lessons myself!

I assume recovering the watch from the deceased watckmaker's shop didn't cost you any money. If it did not work, there should have been no charge.

I don't know where you live, but $300 to repair a chronograph watch is not unreasonable. If it were running and everything worked, it would still be over $200 just to clean, oil and regulate it. Any parts, of course, would be extra.

Don't let this bad experience steer you away from Breitling watches, especially the vintage ones. Many times vintage pieces can be maintained for less money than the new ones. Craig (chronodeco) and Mark Heist both do excellent work, as witnessed by many member of this forum.

I dont know that it has turned me off of vintage watches, I do still have a few but my wife for some reason was not thrilled about my getting this one to begin with then when I told her about the repairs she was even less thrilled, I figure it is best to part ways with it.
I do still have it for the moment, I posted it last night on that large auction site.

NEVER tell your wife (or any woman for that matter) what you spend on your watch hobby!
How would you feel if she told you she paid $300 for a pair of shoes or a new dress.
Normally I don't tell my wife what I spend on any watch but when I bought a Heuer Monaco in mint condition last Feb, I told her and she went on tilt! Craig
