I decided that the Zenith Chronomaster just wasn't my style so I decided to part with it and pick up a 7 Day. I am VERY VERY impressed with this watch. I really appreciate the thickness of the case and how IWC brushed the center and left the top and bottom of the cash polished; very nice attention to detail. The blue hands and blue numbers really set the dial off!! It has the nicest display back I have ever seen!! Just beautiful. This is a keeper!

That's just beautiful Sergio. IWC sure does know how to make a movement pretty, who cares if it keeps good time, just looking at it would be good enough for me.

Absolutely I will. I was turned off by the 7 Day movement when I read your comments & frustrations on it but the watch was just too beautiful to pass up. I'm going to keep an eye on the timekeeping for sure.

I cannot believe how large it wears for a 42mm watch!!

+1. This is my top choice for a new dress watch, but I am a little worried about the accuracy.

Congrats on the pick up Sergio...it really is a beautiful watch, and looks MUCH more impressive in person.

Just bought the same watch about two weeks ago. Love the way it presents on the wrist and the way the blue hands and numbering play off the different lighting conditions. Also think the 7 day reserve is a cool feature. I too was a little concerned about all I've read regarding the in house movements of IWC, running fast mostly. I also read a lot about IWC's decision to buy fully assembled ETA movements modified to their specifications, and "just casing them".
After trying it on and looking at it at my AD I put all of those concerns aside and bought the sucker anyway.

With Swatch deciding that it will soon stop selling ETA kits to non swatch companies what options does a manufacturer have?
1. Build ALL in house movements. This would be a hugh investment and would take years to implement. Not to mention the cost increase to the consumer.
2. Buy completed ETA movements, take them apart and modify them to their specifications. Basically a rebuilt unit. No thanks.
3. Buy completed ETA movements built to their specifications, test them and run them through their internal quality control.
4. Build some in house movements and buy some ETA movements

IWC has chosen #4, and I think other companies will likely have to follow, if what I've read here is true, and Swatch won't sell ebauches to them, or anyone else, any more.

Back to the watch;
After about two weeks I have noticed it running a little fast, not crazy fast, but haven't actually measured it yet. I've also been wearing it every day and the power reserve has been at the full 7 day as a result.
I've wondered if the 7 day reserve has anything to do with the watches reputation for running fast. I don't know enough about the internal workings of a watch to make an educated judgement, but couldn't the spring being under the maximum pressure of a 7 day reserve play a roll? I would think a watch with such a long reserve time would have a propensity to run fast or slow at ether end of its range.

It's all dial. I don't think I could get away with it on my 7.25 - 7.5 wrist. The chrono looks better on me.

This watch is beautiful though. I love the display back and huge movement. Good luck with it. Hopefully you'll keep it longer than a month. :poke:

You wear a 49mm Motor T and you can't pull off a 42mm Port :?: :?: :?:

I don't wear the motors T much because of the size even though I love it.
The motors T has a smaller dial than the iwc. The inner and outer bezel break up the size of it a bit. Also it's more of a hanging out / sporty watch. The iwc is all dial so it, as you said, wears really big. I love your watch, buy the portuguese chrono looked better on my wrist when I tried them on. I was looking for a dress watch at the time so I'm sure that had something to do with my perception of the size.

Very nice watch. I wish they came with a bracelet as a option. Beautiful decorations on the movement.
Best health, Frank

Very nice Sergio, just a classic! Nice clean dial, definitely a keeper...depending on it's timing.

Beautiful and elegant looking Portuguese Sergio. I love it.

Many Congratulations.

Fingers crossed that the 7 day movement doesn't give any accuracy issues that have been reported here recently.
