Ah well, technically Driver 8 was right in a way! The new dial has the framed date window, I think I am right in saying that the old style only had that feature on the models with gold in them! I of course stand to be corrected by more knowledgeable folk here!

SS models have a 'painted' outline rather than an applied one (at least mine does).

Reviving an old topic, but I've been looking at the differences between the Gen. 1 and Gen. 2 Cockpits. As best as I can tell from pictures, the Gen. 2 stainless had an applied date window frame, as opposed to painted.
