Hi Guys,

Recently been thinking of adding a new watch to my collection (as I think most of us do regularly, esp with Christmas bonus coming up) . I like the look of the chronos and decided that it was only really the look I was after. That got me thinking, how many of you actually use your chrono function, and how many of you just bought a chrono beacuse they like the look?

In reality I would not use the chorno function, as if I need to time something I always use my trusty B1 which I love.

I never use it, but it looks sweet. I think there's like a 5 page thread on here somewhere about this exact topic.

I use it once in a while just for the sake of it, but the dive bezel gets regular use. So in that sense, its just for looks.

I use my chronos constantly. I use it when I'm feeding my daughter so I know when the last time she had a bottle. I use it when I pay a parking meter so I know how much time is left. I use it to time different routes when I'm on the road visiting clients so I know fastest routes, and I even used my Planet Ocean chrono to time my wife's contractions when she was going into labor. Too much info I know...but I use my chronos a lot.

I would say I bought it for looks however it does come in handy every once in a while.

I use my chrono and diving bezel depending on which watch I am wearing. When I travel I make it a point to wear the Navi, so i can time my transit time, but for shorter durations, laundry cycles etc, a dive bezel works just fine.

You will be surprised at the number of things you can find to time if you look.

Good excuse to get a Chrono :uplaugh: I think I am at last 2 yrs away when I will need to use a chrono function for these reasons. But no harm getting one soon before then.

Like a few of you, I do use the bezel for timing.

What I would like would be an automatic watch with a countdown function and alarm, now that would be really useful for me..... does anyone know if such a watch exists?

I rarely have a need for one. For things like parking meters, a diver's bezel works fine. Every now and again I find myself needing a chronograph, but it's rare. And I'm one of the weirdos who feels like if I don't use it, it's only so much fluff and shouldn't be there, so I find myself gravitating away from chronographs and more toward standard watches.

I use mine for timing when I grill steaks and when I am out getting sun. When I am out in the sun and intermittent clouds come along I stop the chrono until the clouds clear out. I like to get a full 2 hours of FULL BURNING SUN whenever I'm at the pool or the beach so if the clouds get in the way for a few minutes every so often I keep track of where I'm at. However my main reason for the Chronograph watches is because I like them. I don't like any watches that don't have sub dials.

Here in Sydney thanks to the hole in the ozone layer 2 hrs would be would way too much I think, unless you got SPF 30+. This makes spotting tourists on Bondi beach so easy - Bright red or pealing skin.
I am moving to Stockholm for work, so I will be going to the other extreme cold and dark  At least my SOH has good lume as its gona be dark most of the day!

I'm an engineer on the railroad and I use mine to time myself through the measured miles that we have posted. This way I know if my speedometer is showing the correct speed or if it is off by any amount. I have had some speedometers showing as much as 3 MPH off. The most I ever showed was 7 MPH fast. Could get fired for being that far over the speed limit. Yes I do like the looks of a chrono also.

Yep, plus it could then be a tax write off
Anyone ever used a watch as a tax wrote off?
