Or just a made up story?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mikado-chronograph- ... 53e54a142e

Interesting how people can't really tell the difference between the caliber 11 and 12... come to think of it in the picture looks like a mixture of both... the balance is not gilt...

not so hot on the looks though... :D frankly it's pretty ugly... :lol:

JRGK = J.R. Gorgerat, Kelek

Kelek was an innovative manufacturer in its own right and eventually part of Breitling back in the day—might still be. JRGK-branded movements are still perfectly good movements, nothing shabby about them at all. Same with Mikado: They were (are?) a valid Japanese brand. They made some Buren-powered watches but not many AFAIK.

On this example, however, I don't know if there is enough of any one manufacturer to say what it is!

Interesting topic...

I was wondering if anyone knows after the release of the caliber 11 how soon were these movements used by other watch companies? Knowing that the C-11 was released in 69', I'm assuming there had to be a short period where it was exclusive to just Heuer/Breitling? Or was it after they released the caliber 12 it became the point where other companies started using it too? I don't think I've ever seen another manufacturer use a caliber 11 in their watch... I've seen plenty of C-12s on other company watches though.

Would it be safe to assume that the caliber 11 was exclusive but the caliber 12 was licensed/sold to other companies?

I'm not sure whether that is the case. Remember that Dubois Depraz was part of that consortium so they must have had some rights to distribute and they wouldn't have done so in their own watches.

Not exclusive. You have to remember this movement was a combined effort of Breitling, Heuer, Hamilton, and Buren.

Yeah but Hamilton was also part of the group Paul, so they would have had the rights.

He was asking about being exclusive to Heuer and Breitling.

Fair enough. I guess from my perspective the interesting question would be whether anyone outside the consortium that developed it had access to it (sorry jlee5050, don't meant to head off at a tangent).

I left off Hamilton and Buren... so I guess that'll be the question. "outside the group" is what I meant...
