As the year end comes closer and closer I thought I would give everybody a chance to throw out something exciting or interesting that happened to them in the past year. This could be a new purchase such as a watch or car that you always had your eye on, or a professional/personal accomplishment.

2010 was pretty quiet for me with the exception of joining the wonderful world of WIS. I had always lusted but never had a clue about the breadth and depth of watch porn.

Just for good measure throw in a 2011 resolution/goal/wish list.

IN 2011 I hope to pass the CPA exam and obviously reward myself with a new watch.

Continued good health for my family and an extra measure of serenity for me would be nice.

2010 was nearly a total loss for me, second worst year for me only to the first year of the recession. So long as I have a better 2011, I will be happy. That being said, I am still alive, so I can't be ungrateful!

Wish you the best on the CPA exam!

Here is to hoping an in house BB is in the work for my 2011, and get my divorce finalized!

I'd take a SOII and that would make a good first step.

Actually, if I can pay the wedding off before the divorce, that will be a great success!

2010 has been a mixed year for me, but all in all I have to say despite the low points I can't complain a whole lot. As is the norm some things I wanted to accomplish didn't materialize and other situations came up I had not counted on...mostly blessings in disguise on both counts.

Accomplished
Reassessed and changed the entire direction of my watch collection after becoming more informed and educated. Acquired 4 new Breitlings, 2 Rolexes, 1 Ulysse Nardin, 1 Omega, and 1 JLC. Sold off 9 of my quartz watches.

Began process of a major dental overhaul for my teeth

Visited Thailand and fell in love with that country/considering retirement there

Completed one of my "Bucket List" goals in going scuba diving

Made some upgrades to my Harley

    Began divorce proceedings

Paid off most of my debts

Goals for 2011
Continue my WIS education and expand my collection further/sell the remaining 8 quartz watches

Finalize my divorce without losing my arse

    Complete my Dental Overhaul

    See my daughter graduate college

    Pay off my property

    Pay off remaining debt

Maintain my fitness program, eat healthier, and lose more weight

    Become Scuba Certified

Develop Plan of Action for Post Divorce & towards retirement

Accomplish another "Bucket List" goal -Para Sailing

Go on an extended road trip on my Harley

Spend Christmas with family (have not done in 6 years)

2010 saw our third child, Amelia born (James is 6 and Sophia is 4). I got to visit Burma to speak at a Bible College Conference. I also acquired a Skyland and a Steelfish.

2011 probably won't see a watch purchase; ministers' wages don't often stretch to a new watch each year. But I'll enjoy the ones i have. I'll also invest in my wife and kids. In no time at all the kids will be growing up and leaving home. Also throwing myself into a job i love.

2010 saw me purchase my first house and my first Panerai  ! Certainly the two standouts for me.

2010 Hopefully will see me purchase another Breitling/Panerai or even another brand, not sure what. Would love to get my Legende back as looking at it now I probably didn't need to sell!

Cheers

2010 was a bit of a crap year for me in terms of a series of projects that either just plain went horribly, horribly wrong, or didn't pan out at all, as well as a lot of interpersonal disappointments. I actually did accomplish quite a lot, retrospectively-- although at the time, the good was generally over-shadowed by the bad.

Goals for 2011 include:

- Finalising the sale of a property which has been dragging on for five months now
- Finishing the 3rd year of my English degree
- Increase my overall health and fitness
- Get a car and get driving again
- Find a hobby (that doesn't involve spending money!) which is active, and which I really enjoy
- Actually finish a writing project

...I'm going to regret having written all of that down when it's this time next year and I've only done two or three of those things, aren't I?

Well, 2010 is probably most memorable for the idiot that decided to run a stop sign right in front of me in August and cause my wife to still be off work and undergoing physio.

On the positive side I also paid off the mortgage so that was good.

2011 isn't shaping up too badly, I have already got my major client signed through 2011 so company revenue is looking fairly good, although of course still looking for more customers to add diversity.

I am also making a fairly major step in my writing - I have been writing project management articles for online use for several years, but I wrote a bunch of chapters for a book this year that is published in January and now available for pre-order so that's quite exciting. If that goes well then I may have the opportunity to do a full book.

Don't know what will happen watch wise in 2011, I'm thinking of moving to adding a smaller number of nicer pieces, but we'll see.

I left out the 2010 part! The year saw my daughter adapt well to life as a college freshman in Manhatten, but sadly develop a bit of NYC 'tude. She also recovered nicely from major orthopedic surgery on both femurs. A real trooper that young lady is.

The final papers on my divorce were inked. Woo-hoo. And my ex moved to New Mexico to start her post doctorate in molecular biology. Double-woo-hoo.

Professionally things have reached a new high and that's always nice. 2011 brings a new position with new challenges. Fingers crossed there.

And a bought "a couple" watches in the process.

Sorry if this sounds too Polly Anna, but life is good.

lots of divorces going around. I don't know whether sympathy or congratulations are in order. although it sounds like the later is probably most appropriate.

Shark, I can't help but feel the same way. Life is pretty good. We all our ups and downs, but this year was an overall up for me.

I got married (which according to some isn't such a good idea) but I am happier than I have ever been. 2010 was a bit of a roller-coaster (professionally) for me, but the last 4 months have been the upswing to an all time career with my business flourishing.

I have two siblings that will both be having their first child in early 2011 and my biggest wishes for the new year are that they come in good health and happiness to both the mothers and the little ones. I have been immensely blessed and am very humbled and grateful for it.

All told, 2010 was a really eventful year for me. I moved from Philadelphia to Chicago, moved in with my girlfriend, started a new role at my company, and got a dog! Professionally I accomplished a lot - something that hadn't dawned on me until I just put the finishing touches on my yearly reports in the last few days. I managed to complete one or two technical projects that had never been attempted by a North American engineer in my company.

This year, more than any other, I also learned about watches. I have an understanding well beyond what I thought was possible even 5 years ago. Life has been good in Chicago and it's truly become my home away from home. Oh yeah and the girlfriend and dog are pretty great

My father passed away in August of 2009 and so 2010 was a tough year in that it was a year of "firsts" without him. That being said, I've felt his influence and presence through this year and know he's keeping an eye out for me. My family and I will keep him in our hearts forever.

For 2011 all I can ask for is health for me, my friends, and loved ones, everything else is gravy.

I was just going to say that...

So, 2010 was a so-so year for me. Bought a first Breitling. Nothing serious happened besides that.
The only thing i hope for in 2011 is to pass the Bar exam. :superman:
After that, all will be well

Let's see,

2010 - was quite busy, made associate at my firm, bought a new house (c/w a mortgage with one too many zeros!), picked up a new navi world, expecting our third child (girl, already have 2 boys), that's about it, thank god, couldn't handle much more.

2011 - My wife will be going back to work (long haul pilot) which means I need to figure out how to take care of a 4 month old, 2 year old and 3 year old for the 3 or 4 days of the week she is out of town, which reminds me - need to pick up a case of good scotch for after beadtime

Would like to add another watch at least, perhaps a Graham, an I think work wise I am in for a huge year, 2011 is shaping up to be a pretty busy year for work.
