The only thing i figure you are not going to be able to get is the original warranty book, but it's not really important as you will not have warranty anyways.

You can also get an instructions manual for $10 and the COSC cert is $75 (takes about 6 weeks). After it's in for service, you have have the service book as well. It's the majoirty of your paperwork when new.

Thanks for the heads up Justin....fortunately my current pieces were purchased with all the proper accouterments, but in case I find one w/o those in the future I now know they can be replaced....for a nominal fee of course  Plus they send it back to you in one of those nice little neoprene zip up travel cases still right? Would I also be right in assuming they would include a service booklet with it as well upon return which reflects date and service performed?

If you're buying a watch because you like the 30 second high you get when you open the box, I'm sorry, but that's foolish. You really think you get a smaller high if the box you're opening isn't OEM? And how long does that last?

I think you are inaccurately characterizing why a number of people look for boxes and papers.

Yes Richard, they send you a service book saying what it got and when, stamp kinda little thing like you get at a car dealer and the little travel type shipping case with a little branded polishing cloth in there as well.

It's totally possible to get a period box set as well from anything remotely recent within a short time on eBay. If there is a killer deal, I would take it gladly.

I personally wouldn't buy a Breitling without the box and papers as those are key pieces of evidence it's the real McCoy and confirms you are a member of this privileged club while adding to the veracity and satisfaction of this special purchase.

I wanted to say that for my first purchase in the $700 range, I threw away my box and papers. I didn't think anything of it, and still question whether keeping a box I'll never use (other than if I sell it later) is worth the space in my closet. When I had my Longines Legend, that box along with my Panerai box took up two shelves until I put them in the attic.
