I bought my GF a Colt Oceane a couple of years ago (funny not a mention about how many (watches) I have since then)).
A couple of months ago the date did not change on the 13th, I wound it on 24 hours and it changed so I thought no more about it.

This happened last month and again today.

Any ideas of the cause (Service to correct of course).

Thanks

I would suspect a tooth on the date wheel. I'm not sure about the Colt Ocean, but most date wheels have a jumper spring that keeps the date aligned in the window. If a tooth is worn or slightly bent, the wheel might not overcome the force of the spring to advance when driven by the action of the motion works with the watch running normally. Conversely, when you move the hands around the dial with the stem there might be enough torque to move the date wheel when it would not otherwise advance.

It sounds like a trip to your friendly AD. If there is a watchmaker there, he should be able to replace the date wheel. Otherwise, it's off the the service center.

Yup twas my thought.

Wonder how that can suddenly happen, Karen does not know how to use the date clutch so would always ask me to do it.
And of course it is a Quartz. (not sure if that makes a diff.)

The motion works are pretty much the same whether the movement is mechanical or quartz. They operate off the hour wheel. There is 2:1 reduction gearing that moves the date jumper once every 24 hours to advance the date wheel. The quick set feature uses a different set of parts to advance the date wheel.

That's why it it unwise to set the date using the quick set when the time is between 8:00 PM and 3:00 AM. When the date jumper is in contact with the date wheel, turning it with the quick set can damage it. I'm not sure why the designers don't come up with a date jumper that can withstand the date wheel hitting it. It would be a simple thing to do.
