My daughter is craving the new HTC Droid Incedible for Christmas and since Verizon had a two for one, I got rid of the BB Storm I've had (and HATED) for the Droid Incredible. I'm probably at about 25% on the device since I just got it yesterday, but find it amazing, intuitive, and lightning fast. And it is a good pure phone as well - can't say that about the Storm2. Finally I have a touch screen I can really type on - the Storm was horrible. And voice txting is very cool.

Anyone else using the Droids? Any complaints/issues to look for?

My sister is on her second one....Her first Droid would crash every 5-7 minutes of use. Due to her issues, she was sent the latest model, but it still crashes from time to time.

I hope you have better luck with the Droid than she has!

There were about 3 earlier models prone to all types of issues. Motorola made them I think. The Incredible is made by HTC. The reviews have been good. Hopefully this one has the issues ironed out.

My wife has the HTC Incredible and the battery drains fairly quickly but aside from that it's an awesome smartphone.

If she doesn't have it - download the task killer from the task manager and use it frequently. It is the open apps that really.drain the battery.

There's a lot of debate on this subject. Just removing the crapware that verizon adds will help a lot more. I don't use a task killer and get a full day with lots of use. You can also experiment with different kernels to get better life.

I'd say, as dhalem is alluding to, get the cleanest installation you can find. The G2 and new Nexus S are about as close to "clean" as you'll find. I think their tag line is "Pure Google". They are the best google phones out, IMO.

I am seriously considering making the jump from Blackberry. At this point I am just waiting for my contract to run out (May, 2011) to get the latest Android device. Maybe by then they'll be on "Honeycomb"...

The Nexus S is pretty sweet, but T-Mobile only at the moment. I can't say anything else about future releases, but you could look here:

Ask Steve Jobs what he thinks of Droids  I don't think I could ever leave the Iphone. My buddy works at Verizon ,and all he does is bash my phone. I do like the droids but they all remind me of a VCR.

Yes, Steve Jobs is well known as an authority and unbiased source. I had an iPhone for several years. I'm much happier on android, and I'm even happier being off of AT&T.

My wife has the Motorola Droid and hates it. Nothing to do with the software, but when she's talking, usually to me, the damn thing mutes or goes to speaker all the time, even when she locks the screen. I'm gonna guess that she's doing something wrong, but I've messed around with it and I really like it. I'm curious to see if the Verizon iPhone ever comes out though. If it does it's either gonna be that or the HTC Incredible, I've heard nothing but good things about the HTC.

After 2 days all I can say is this Incredible is head and shoulder above the BB Storm2 I had. The keypad just sucked, the phone capabilities made me wonder if string and tin cans were involved, and after it finally pulled up a website, navigating on the site was clumsy at best. This Incredible is the best pure phone I've had since an old LG flip phone, the keypad is large and easy to use, and websites - like breitlingsource - navigate almost as well as on a laptop.

After using the Task Killer several times and frequently remembering to hit the Standby button, I had a full charge all day. It even synced my contacts with my Gmail contacts so all the email addresses I was to lazy to put in phone contacts miraculously appeared.

It's only day 3, but I give it a really big  and won't miss the the Storm2 at all.

Wow...seems to be a lot of negative experience from Driod users.

I have the Motorola Droid 2. I picked it mainly because I like to have the default keyobard tray in addition to the one on the screen (which I rarely use). I have been very pleased with it in the 3-4 months that I have had it. My only complaint is that I have to push the power button on the top a couple of times to get the phone to actually turn on...it happens every time...strangely enough I only have to push it once to get it to turn off. Not a huge deal...just aggravating.

Oh yeah...the voice command features are really nice...especially when driving!!
