Not that it would make any difference what we said right Roff?

Absolutely not, but it's never stopped people before.

I think the Mr.Roboto makes a great conversation piece. Something like that will surely draw one's eye to your wrist. Not my style, but can't fault anyone for it.

Urwerk came immediately to mind when I saw the thread title, but I see it's been well covered already.

This is not really my strong suite so cant make a new recommendation, but I highely recommend the Panoinverse I brought up earlier, it is quite different obviousely and in real life a stunning watch! Have you seen one up close Roff?

I haven't seen the SS version. I handled the gold one before the SS was announced, but I think that this is a watch that looks better in SS than gold.

I love this new Perrelet - Recently featured on ablogtoread.com. Its a really interesting combination of complications w/ minutes and hours seperated (called a 'regulator' apparently) and then the date indicated with a hand that turns around the watch as opposed to a date wheel. I think its a great look, and prices range from $8k in stainless on black gator to $20k in rose gold on black gator. In house movement, very unique display of the time and date. The one thing that might throw you off is that it is a very traditional case, but who knows. Here are a few links:

Stainless w/ Black Face - http://www.perrelet.com/en/A1041-5

Rose Gold w/ Black Face - http://www.perrelet.com/en/A3014-5

Titanium w/ Black Face - http://www.perrelet.com/en/A5001-2

Another good thing is that I think Govberg carries the brand, so it is likely that the watch can be purchased from one of the forums favorite retailers, and at discount.

Well here's something that is unique and if you're into golf it could be quite the topic on the course. This watch has some interesting if not totally different complications than you find on any other watch I would imagine. I have no clue as to the cost of these, but the story of the Seve Ballesteros is interesting and most of their watches have the functions listed below.

Functions
Hours, minutes, large seconds, strokes per hole, total score, holes played, handicap comparison.

The Seve Ballesteros
The Chunichi Crowns Open is part of the Japan Golf Tour and was won by Seve Ballesteros in 1991 with 275 strokes (5 under par). The 1 to 9 irons as well as the pitching wedge and sand wedge used there by him have been forged into 50 watch cases for the exclusive "Seve Ballesteros" limited series. The processing method chosen with the melting of the golf clubs, casting in a mold and subsequent forging of the case makes it possible to tell which watch case comes from which of Seve's irons.

Golf Counter Complication JS02
The heart of the new complication, the mechanical counter JS02, is a recently patented invention. There is one counter for strokes per hole, a second counter to keep track of total strokes per game, and a retrograde counter to display holes played. A secured pusher resets the first counter automatically and the counters can all be reset when the game is finished. The construction and its complexity can be compared with a chronograph.

Jaermann & Stübi watches are automatic mechanical and have a particularly durable Caliber A10 movement which has a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement has a central-led second hand and can be wound either manually or automatically. Belonging to the chronometer class, it is borne by 25 jewels with shock absorbers.

While not nearly as out there as the other watches here, the Perrelet Turbine is certainly weird, and would fit into the affordable category. Its pretty neat too imo.

I was actually quite considering this one too... but not sure I'm ready myself since all of my pieces are vintage and it might be sort of a shocker... :wowzers

the rest of my watch clan might not get along with the newcomer...

but I would flick my wrist every minute just to watch the turbine turn... pretty cool

Personally I like the Azimuth... but I would only pick it up as my collection has somewhat "matured" or "peaked"?

Montezn....that golf watch is pretty cool, never seen that before. I don't think it's weird enough but it's certainly very interesting.

:yeahthat

I thought so too, interesting use of complications eh? The finish on the movements looks quite nice as well and they come with a DB to show it off. They would definitely qualify as unique I think and could come in quite handy on the course....especially if you play with a guy that has a tendency to fib a tad on the scorecard. I managed to finally find their retail price points of 10k-50k and they do have an AD in Scottsdale AZ that Sharkman is probably familiar with....isn't he from that area? Chrono24.com has a few pre-loved ones up for grabs I noticed too....FORE!!

I'm familiar with the golf watch - they've spent a lot of time on shock absorption as well to overcome the impact g forces. Not really 'weird' enough for me though, especially as I hate golf.

Are you going for more outgoing or just unique? Idk about outgoing watches, as those tend not to appeal to me. However, if you're looking for unique, maybe try a jaquet droz? Specifically their models that have customizable dials - be it petrified algae, aventurine (my personal favorite), dinosaur bone, etc. They are beautiful and timeless pieces IMO.
