I have a 2005 Chronomat Evolution 18kt solid gold with aftermarket alligator band and 18kt Breitling buckle. I have the leather box and all paper work.
I'm trying to do an exchange for a Solid Gold Rolex GMT. Demsey Fine Watches want to give me $4500 credit towards the purchase of a 1997 GMT. I would have thought my Chronmat would be worth more.

Any Thoughts or Comments as too value will be appreciated. Give me a number, you can't insult me.

Thanks

I wouldn't let it go for $4500.

Well since the MSRP in 2005 for just the watch head was $13,575.00 and after a decent discount (20%) you should have paid around $10,860 + tax and the price of gold has skyrocketed in the last few years... I would think that is a little low. Heck at 40% of MSRP that is still $5400, without the increase in gold price.

We will see what the others chime in and say, but expecially in a Rolex trade where they tend to NOT offer any discounts, I would think that $6000-$6500 in trade would be fair.

You might list it here and maybe on TZ and do a private party sale. Be warned that without an original Breitling strap and buckle, some are going to be turned away. Just make sure all the paperwork is present and in the pictures clearly.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful, Thanks. It does have a Breitling buckle, on the aftermarket band.

Check chrono24.com for dealer asking prices.

Also, fwiw an ounce of gold cost around $400 in 2004. It's now around $1400.

I agree that $4,5K is too low.

Evo in stainless steel sells in $3K+ range and here we are talking gold.

I would think $6500 would be a pretty fair price, probably fetch about $5500 on eBay.

the all gold models dont hold value at the same rate of the stainless, its less actually.

29k gold 675 can be had for 10-12k all day long

honestly, all you are going to get on TRADE is 4500-5ish. not saying you cant SELL it for more though. put i for sale for 6500 or 7k. see what happens.

I think that is BS and agree with all the guys here. The price of gold has increased substantially from a few years ago. You should get more for your watch.

If you can sell it for 6k, no dealer is going to give you more than 5ish on trade. Thats simple business.
