I've got to stop this madness, but I just can't help myself....muhahaha! I went and pulled the trigger after damn near 2 weeks of kicking it around and trying to decide. It is pretty much going to be the crown jewel of my collection for quite a spell I would imagine, as I can't see purchasing anymore watches for awhile after making the recent investments I've made in the restructuring of my collection. At any rate I'm real pleased with the results of the process and proud to announce the crown jewel of my humble little collection.

The piece I decided upon was a Jaeger Le Coultre Master Compressor Memovox on SS. I think the looks of it lends itself to a dress down or a dress up watch, allowing it to be worn for just about any occasion IMO. I'm not really much on dressing up very often so I prefer utilitarian styles that can be used in just about any setting. At 41.5mm it's just the right size...not too big and not too small...and it has great wrist presence. The dial is easy to read and the inner bi-directional bezel is very tastefully done without being overpowering and detracting from the face. I think the splash of red on the first 15 minute indicators and the seconds hand is just the right amount of color that really adds to an otherwise plain black/white color scheme. I love the 2 compression key crowns with their red/white locked/unlocked indicators and then to top it off, there is the alarm function which IMO really adds to the uniqueness of this piece. Internally it is powered by JLC's in-house Calibere 918 movement beating at 28,800vph. All in all I think for the time being it will be the reigning monarch of my collection followed closely by the LE Montbrillant Legende.

Great pick up! A wonderful piece from JLC, suitable for all occasions as you say. You should add a leather strap as well as the rubber :D

I dont think they have one to fit the Memovox, but I think they retail for around $2000 :wowzers

They make that simple rubber one with all the small holes in it for the Memovox though, and its not very expensive and dresses the watch down nicely.

It's easy to see why this is your crown jewel!! And nice to see a JLC on a SS bracelet. How is the bracelet adjustable? Is their a half link? I'm assuming not based on the design.

Awesome choice! Love the size and alarm feature. One of the few JLC models I like.
Enjoy!

+1. I liked your other 2 recent purchases, but this one is the best IMO. I like it on the bracelet, but I prefer it on the dark brown gator strap.

Congrtats on a great addition.

Now that's a nice watch. Madness you say? Only if you feel the need to keep looking after that.

Thank you, but isn't that what this Madness is all about? Seeking the next "Grail" so to speak...once you pick up a piece, that status is gone thus a new quest begins. As for beginning a new quest, that is out of the question for some time as I have some other more pressing financial obligations that will require my immediate attention. :x This "down" time will allow me to enjoy the current level of my collection though and give me the opportunity to carefully consider the next direction I take.

In the long term on my mid price range list I am considering a PAM 24 or a PAM 50 as I would like to add a representation of the Panerai line to my collection. In the lower price range also under consideration is a Ball Engineer Master II Diver and SuperOcean (Orange Dial). On the higher side of the equation I would like to add either a UN Executive Dual Time (Rose Gold), JLC Navy Seals Diver Alarm, B01 LE Chronomat, B01 Chronomat 2 tone, or an IWC Portugese.

In any case, any future additions are a little ways down the road in reality until these other financial obligations are met. At least in the meantime I've got a nice humble little collection I am proud of and can enjoy giving wrist time to. 8)
