Always thought that the Consulting was a screen  :) Your posts are so savvy  that you must be a Breitling undercover agent. :watchout:

As one of those whose knowledge is scant but hopes to learn more, this is by far the best forum to come to quickly increase one's knowledge. I figure I learn about one new thing a day here! Though I also wouldn't mind seeing a few more wrist shots...

Yeah, now that I think about it, the bullshit factor is low here compared to other forums on which I post, very low compared to some of them.

I like this place because I can get my Breitling fix, but I can also spend an equal amount of time reading about other brands. We all seem to agree that we like Breitlings the most, but we also know that there are better and worse watches out there. No defending the brand to the death here. Just look at the "whats youre favorite brand" thread. This is abviously a breitling forum, but nobody even thinks twice about selling a non-Breitling is the sales section because we know that somebody here will probably buy it (usually after randomly coming across it, obsessing for a day or two, and then somehow convincing themselves that they cant live without it). We can appreciate everything for what its worth, whether its a $50 G-shock beater or the new 20k grail-of-the-week that somebody picked up.

In the spirit of this thread, would you please tell me what the 8-3 Rule is? (Seriously...I've never heard of it.)

Also in the spirit of this thread, I will say that the level of information here is mind-blowing. I've been a Breitling owner for over three years, but have learned infinitely more about them since being a member here for the last month. And I still have a long way to go, but that's part of the fun.

8-3 rule is also known as the "danger zone". It's the hours between 8:00 pm and 3:00 am in which you don't change the date using the quick set function for fear of doing damage to the watch mechanism. Instead, you need to wind time forward until you are outside of those hours and then use the quick set date function.

Cool, thanks. I feel a little better, since I actually did know that. I just didn't know it was called the 8-3 Rule. I referred to it as the danger zone.

You sure br549? I thought it was the timeframe available for working people to post threads on BS. :uplaugh:

I would have to admit to not knowing of the 8-3 rule as well to be honest. I've learned quite a bit from this site with the help of the wizened WIS's amongst us....even if they are a bit opininated :poke: J/K....actually I've found everyone for the most part to be open minded. For the life of me I can't figure out how some of ya'll have come upon such a wealth of information on watches to be honest. Some of ya'll are like walking encyclopedias on watches....and can spot a name brand watch under a guys cuff at 300 paces and tell what brand it is, when it was made, how many were made that year, and whether or not it is gaining or losing .05 seconds/day. Oh and I got to also pass out some kudos for the :popo: Breitling Police :popo:...through ya'lls continued dedication and efforts, there are many folks that don't realize what ya'll do in getting those "Pretenders" pulled from the Bay and saving them countless $$ in the process....so my hat's off to ya'll and keep up the good work. It's nice to have a place to chat with folks with the same interests and learn as ya go. Thanks to all here for being the coolest bunch on the web. :cheer: :woohoo:
