The Breitling Watch Source Forums

My son is getting slightly interested in watches. Every month when I read through my iW magazine, he'll point out the all-black watches and say how cool they are. I'd like to get him something for Christmas, but can't seem to find anything I like. I you have anything that fits the following criteria, let me know:

- must be all black
- prefer that it be analog instead of digital, as it will help him learn to read a real clock (he can now, but it takes him a while)
- I'd like to keep it under $150
- needs to have a smaller case that won't look out of place on his tiny wrists

The obvious watch that comes to mind is a G-Shock, but I'm afraid the case will be too big on him. All of them I saw on Casio's website came it at 50mm plus. Any help is appreciated.

How about a Baby G Shock? They are pretty cool ,and are made pretty small.

Funny, Baby G was the first thing that came to mind for me when I saw the thread title, but I'm not sure if they do analog ones in that line?

I'll probably be shot for saying this, but how about a Swatch?

I looked at the baby G's as well. Most are digital and all of them say "Baby-G." He doesn't even like ordering off the kid menu anymore, so I'm pretty sure any watch that says "baby" on it will turn him off. It's a really great idea, though.

My first watch as a kid was a swatch, I still remember it it 20 plus years later. They make some nice pieces, and even have the nice skeletonized pieces. Take a look at fossil they make a ton of different pieces as well as Nike.

MacApple- Good call on Fossil. I had a Fossil way back in the day and it held up pretty well. I completely forgot about this brand.

Justin- Victorinox is a great option and the one you found may be the ticket. The dial is really easy to read, which is something I'm having a hard time finding and I think would be helpful to my son. I can't believe I didn't think about this brand either, as there was an article about the company in this month's iW magazine.

Dont forget Guess or Kenneth Cole, Those watches were big in my day. My first nice watch was in High School Senior year 1998 a Gucci with alligator strap. That watch was so cool to me, it had roman numerals ,and Gucci on the side of the case. I thought I was the coolest kid ever

My, natural, choice would be Swatch. They have a very wide range from which to choose and the quality/price ratio is one of the best around IMO.

Do note however, that when I was your son's age, I received an Oris from my father after one of his trips in Switzerland. Swatch did not,yet, exist then, of course.

How about mondaine? Swiss railway watches, some really nice crisp designs that should prove easy to read. Well made too for the price I think.
